The Ball boy may well be a spoilt little shit but what money has to do with it I don’t know. To me his actions seemed like the petty dummy-throwing histrionics of teenagers the world over, millionaires son or not.
None of that even begins to excuse Hazards response. He is a PROFESSIONAL footballer. If he is able to restrain himself every time the keeper lays on the ball and wastes time them it is not too much of a stretch to expect him to do it here as well.
Why you are focussing on the ball-boys character or intentions is beyond me.
Why did the incident happen? Its all about the behaviour and intentions of the ASBO youth.
Had this been almost any other club in the country this would have been a 11-12 year old bu tthis little privelidged shit feels he can do what he wants without consequence - and that is partly a product of his upbringing and the fact that daddy wangled the job for him - he feels he can do whatever he wants.
I’d be interested to know what part of the contract of a professional footballer covers this aspect, he is a footballer, not a professor of psychology. He is a very young man under intense pressure, I wonder just how much specialist training he has had. What he has is some little shit ruining his urgent and to him, important work - his job is to get that ball - this is what he is paid to do and some fuck brained twat who has nothing to do with is it intentionally screwing up his job.
I love how people behind keyboards somehow have a zen like calmness about a situation which occurs in the space of a couple of seconds.
You may be right, he may well be a horrible little tit, but Hazard was still far, far out of line and no amount of provocation excuses what he did.
irrelevant, if he can’t restrain himself then he is a liability. And he is 22 for crying out loud, since when did that count as a “very young man”
He’s has enough to know that regardless of who is time-wasting you don’t try and boot the ball from under them. Doing so gets you carded.
Not in this situation it isn’t. It was nothing to do with him, it wasn’t even a Chelsea ball.
His job is to get back in position and wait for the restart and hopefully avoid booting the civilian volunteer help.
I don’t doubt that it was a silly rush of blood, unfortunately for him that doesn’t get him off the hook. You’ve still got to pay for it, if for no other reason that it sends a clear message about what is and isn’t acceptable behaviour. A sending off and 4 match ban seems right to me.
I can’t shake off the feeling that you are angry at the lad for being rich, that somehow that shifts the burden of responsible behaviour from Hazard to him. I don’t get why you mention his wealth at all.
So Hazard is being punished for his actions.
Any “punishment” for the ball boy?
Watching that gif in the op, The people in the stands seem very calm over the kick. They don’t recoil in horror.
I would think so, both were at fault and should be punished according to the relevant standards.
Hazard - a ban and probably a fine.
The Ball-boy - A ticking off and not allowed to be a ball boy again. Seems fairly straightforward to me I mean what else can anyone do to him? He’s broken no laws and I suspect he hasn’t signed up to any legally enforceable code of conduct.
The incident took place in front of the away end, so the people you see in the stand are Chelsea fans. The people in the rest of the ground (ie. the Swansea City fans) would have been going crazy demanding that Hazard get sent off.
