According to “The Acts of the Apostles”…
After Pentecost Christians were so moved that they sold everything and held “…all things together…”
It didn’t last long… but that was their first sensibility.
The clear calling to share…to give everything they owned to “all”…
Were Christians the first Socialists?
I guess the Spirit was, eventually, felt less strongly than the Earthly ‘Call’ to judge one’s self by the ownership of ‘things.’
I guess Pride, Greed and Selfishness will always win.
[[ sigh]]
The “Selfish Gene” and NOT sharing is the more respected meme.
A little socialism goes a long way. That’s about all I got, since I don’t really know what you’re talking about.
From here .
Acts 2:44-45 (King James Version):
44And all that believed were together, and had all things common;
45And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.
Fortunately the Conservative Bible Project is working to correct this kind of thing. Unfortunately, they haven’t tackled this particular passage yet. I can’t wait.

Since Judas made a healthy profit out of selling Jesus, presumably that makes him the first Capitalist.
Not hardly. Laban got 14 years of labour out of Jacob in exchange for his two daughters.

Socialism is an ideal system for a race of saints in perfect obedience to God. For everyone else, it sux.
That’s not what the “selfish gene” is about. The book is about the gene selection model of evolution, which Dawkins endorses. The theory says that natural selection happens on a genetic basis, and a lot of things that can’t be explained by classical Darwinian natural selection, like altruistic sacrifice, can be explained by the gene selection model.
Well, like I said, a little bit of it goes a long way. Like hot sauce.

It works pretty well in most of Europe.
Europe is all capitalist. Just a little different in its application and regulation.
