Can we have a test for mental age before someone can join? Socks, trolls, and bizarre neo-nazis indicate some very immature minds that think it is somehow “cool” to jerk people around have made it past the sensors, if only for a few minutes. Once we (the mods and admins) set up the process so the little jerks (not the mods and admins) can never enter we (I) will never again worry that we (I) will be labeled trolls because of our (my) statements that go a bit past what we (I) actually believe but which we (I) made in the heat of the moment, or just because it’s fun to see how other people (you) react.

As for the second part of the OP, I will admit to sometimes fighting the desire to exagerate my position in order to, uh, gauge peoples reactions. Yeah, that’s it. Not trolling. Completely in the name of scientific inquiry.
Maybe it’s immaturity, or a serious lack of perspective. It’s just a message board already; a fun, interesting place to hang out but not something worth obssessing over. Gotta wonder how these folks cope with people who disagree with them in real life. Maybe they just vent frustrations on us they can’t vent otherwise.
It’s sad, and more than a little stupid because all that bile and brouhaha is just a waste.

Some of them are different lengths or textures than others, but you’d have to get pretty close to see that. So I usually just pick two, ideally two without too many holes in them.

It is an interesting idea, but it strikes me that there are plenty of freaky people with sky-high IQs. Mental-age does not necessarily equate to how sensible or pleasant someone is going to be: you could be a bit of a dumb juvenile, but still an amiable and pleasant person. Ditto an Evil Genius Overlord.
There are boards like Una where you have to have a personal reference for membership, or provide something like a work email. I guess that could work here, but it might be way too much volume of applications for the admins to process. Plus it might deter potential new posters from bothering to sign up - some people aren’t so patient, and it can take a while to get “hooked” in any new community.
You people are REALLY lucky I can’t stay mad long enough to report the posts where you don’t take my OP seriously AND indulge in frivolity in the Pit. :mad:
