Solo Golf

Does anybody else like to play golf alone?

I have a standing nine-holes-after-work on Mondays with a group of friends, and today, they all cancelled. So, I used our tee time and played alone. It’s been a while since I played a solo round, and I had a great time.

It’s fun to play with my friends, but I do like a solo round from time to time. Does anybody else?

I do, though I don’t play much any more, I used to enjoy playing by myself. I can’t stand the people who take forever to take a damn shot, taking 3-4 practice swings and backing off. I take a practice swing, if I’m in a strange lie to make sure I’m not going to ground the club or miss the ball, but that’s about it. I used to be able to play a round of golf in 2-2.5 hours by myself and not play any worse than if I played in 4+.

When I lived in Gulf Shores I used to play all the time by myself after work. The only real negative about it was you didn’t have another set of eyes to find the ball.

Especially since most of mine where god-knows-where

I didn’t. Maybe if I tried I would have kept playing. Best way to improve the game would be to make the hole a lot wider. Might as well play basketball with the hoop 50 ft. up, or bowling with a 1/4 mile long lane, or darts with a 1" wide target. Dear Og, getting the ball on the green is the challenge, then you want me to knock it into that little cup!?!?

Absolutely. There’s a little par 3 course near my home that I pop over to by myself on occasion. No tee time necessary, usually not crowded so I can play 2 balls if I want.

I kind of like playing golf by myself. I never take those rounds too seriously. I play fast as it is and by myself, I really play fast. So, when I run up on the group ahead of me, I simply bypass them and skip to the next hole.

I’ve never played a course that would let me go out alone. I would go alone frequently but they’d always place me with a group of two or three.

I’ve played the back nine on courses a couple times alone, when the folks I was playing with decided to skip directly from the ninth hole to the nineteenth hole.
