Solomon Kane Movie

For about thirty years, I’ve wished somebody would make a movie about Robert Howard’s dour, blood-spilling Puritan, Solomon Kane. Apparently it’s on.

No casting announced yet. My first thought was Hugo Weaving. Any thoughts? (Of course, they’ll probably totally screw it up, but we can hope.)

While we’re at it – any other Howard stories people would like to see on screen? Personally, I’d like to see a good movie version of Skullface (contemporary story at the time, being set in 1930’s; it would make an interesting period piece now).

Daniel Day Lewis would be great as Kane. He’s good at doing dour.

Don’t die, little thread.

If they filmed the Breckenridge Elkins stories a la The Tick, they might be able to pull it off.

Any frankly, I’d love to see a non-campy version of Conan.

Somewhere on this earth, I reckon, is someone capable of writing a good animated Bran Mak Morn movie, but I doubt he has access to the production company & animation studio.

Is Alan Rickman too old for the role?

Interesting; he’d be great; 61 years old, though.

Hey, Liam Neeson turned 55 today. That’s not too old; he’d look great, and he knows how to handle a sword. Actually, he’s about perfect for the part.

ETA: In the movie Kingdom of Heaven, Neeson looked like he wore a hauberk every day of his life. The guy really gets into his part. (And his character was a lot more like the real Balian of Ibelin than the stupid made-up character Orlando Bloom played.)
