Some dinosaurs had carrot-colored feathers

Or, at least, sinosauropteryx had orange and white proto-feathers-bristles. Cool picture inside.

Whoever it was on these boards that clued me in to the dinosaur mailing list, thank you.

Did the other dinosaurs call them Gingers?

Dinosaur mailing list? I didn’t see that on the page. Where would I go to get onto that?

No, evidence seems to be that they called some of the small new orange mammals ‘gingers.’ Then everyone agreed the age of the dinosaurs was over, and made way for the mammals, but then the big fat dinosaurs changed their minds after just a few months. And it worked out pretty well for them.

Some time ago on this board someone asked about how to keep current with dinosaurs, and somebody said that a prof at USC runs a mailing list. It’s pretty cool, even if it does run a slightly high noise-to-signal ratio for the dilettante dinosaur lover.

I love the bottom most picture there, it’s like the Sinosauropteryx is doing a Hawaiian fire dance. Maybe that’s what contributed to its continued survival
