Some dude wants to kick my head in.

The problem I find, at least in Canada, is who to call. The last time I called in plates I was driving at night along the highway. A mini-van and a car were screwing around in traffic (the mini-van at one point STOPPED in the passing lane in light traffic and I had to stand on my brakes (good ole’ new car brakes work really well)). I followed both these cars for a bit and it was obvious that they were cutting each other off for whatever reason.

I noticed about 200 feet later that the car’s lights were swing around like a disco ball. It had crashed and spun around into the guard rail. I stopped but I was way too far to help but the mini-van blasted by me. I peeled out (my first proper use of my 6 speed Matrix) and followed the mini-van and called in the plates. I used *911 and you know what? I got “Sorry, if this happend on the highway you must call the OPP” by the time I tried dialing *opp (because now I have to look at my phone) I started to lose the speeding mini-van and only had a partial plate.

I didn’t hear anything about it later.

At the risk of preaching, if you are not trained & specifically proficient in firearms…and if you are not legally licensed to have one in your car (and the local Cop isn’t going to buy “…but I was just going to the Range when this all happened…”) then you should not be driving with a firearm. It can turn a speeding ticket into jail time.

I don’t know about a .40 S&W…but those 3-5 Automatics can make a real dent in your social lives. Commit a crime in my state with a gun, its 3-5. Automatic. (Assault & Attempted Assault are crimes)

Was this on Rt 9 in NJ? I was driving down route 9 the other day, and there was this guy in a toyota sedan, probably from the early 90s, late 80s, wearing a nice sportcoat and shirt, with normal grooming (at least from mid-torso up), and he would occasionally cover his mouth with his left hand, and start yelling obscenities so loud I could hear him clearly over my radio. He did this several times, but I could never figure out what he was saying, or reacting to. It was almost a Dr. Jekell/Mr. Hyde thingy, but the shifts between personalities was much faster, with the evil side taking control for only a few seconds at a time.

Wonko, maybe the guy had/has Tourette’s Syndrome.

I find it very hard, nay, impossible to believe that any military police have jurisdiction over civilians off base. As a matter of fact, I won’t believe that until I see a valid cite of a United States law which grants such jurisdiction.

Just thought of something: I’m not ruling out citizen’s arrests, of course.

Monty, I’ve begun another thread to attempt to get this answered here, rather than hijack this, and another thread dealing with the same issues.
