They also mentioned it in an early episode when Dick and Mary are flying to a conference.
Dick-There’s a man on the wing of this plane!
Mary-Yes, Dick. He’s one of the flight crew. They’re putting fuel into the plane.

Oh, that’s right. I remember it being someone who looked a little “odd” and who had a really smarmy, arrogant smile. (Like when he smugly put on the hat and looked oh-so-proud-of-himself until the hole burnt through.)
Eats Crayons Rufus Sewel looks odd to you? How? I have trouble wrapping my mind around that.

The woman is Melinda Dillon. And she has an amulet, not a stopwatch. The director is no less than Wes Craven.
I meant “odd” in the sort of “exotic” way not “odd” as in “Dear Og, mutant! Mutant!” Sewell has those really disctinctive eyes (that made him look perpetually strung out in Dark City) and thick dark, curly hair for quite the exotic look.
Meawhile Cotter has those really chiseled features and brow that give his eyes a really distinctive look.

from Delores Reborn:
That one starred Dick York (Darren Stevens of Bewitched) - he could “hear” people’s thoughts. One of my favorites, too.
Interesting to know. Now this thread has me watching the sci fi channel re runs.
-“The After Hours” with Anne Francis et al as come-to-life-once-a-month department store mannequins.
-“The Howling Man”:Satan trapped in a monastery until he was inadvertantly released by a stranger.
-“The Silence” with Franchot Tone. A truly sad tale of greed, and the downside of gambling.
-“Deaths-Head Revisited”:a most riveting episode about cosmic comeuppance.
-“Kick the Can”: sometimes you CAN go home again.
-“The Trade-Ins”:the episode with the most heart and soul. A real weeper.
-“Queen of the Nile”: Very One Step Beyond.
-“The Masks”: Cosmic comeuppance,parte deux.

All of my favorite episodes have been mentioned except (unless I missed it) …
“Number Twelve Looks Just Like You” >>> In the age of plastic surgery, tv shows like “Extreme Makeover” and “The Swan,” this one kinda hits home. Premise: In the future, the populace undergoes voluntary “transformations” when they reach adulthood and chose their body type and face, which makes them look handsome/gorgeous, but exactly identical to others. A “plain” looking girl contemplates this, thinking it’s conformity. Her father, a free-thinker, committed suicide. She’s then sent to a doctor, and a psychiatrist, who wonder why she resists her change. She’s also pressed by her mother and best friend, too.
If I had my way, I’d make this “must-viewing” for junior high and high school kids. The original airdate was 01/24/64, but check out this Serling opening narrative,
“Given the chance, what young girl wouldn’t happily exchange a plain face for a lovely one? What girl could refuse the opportunity to be beautiful? For want of a better estimate, let’s call it the year 2000. At any rate, imagine a time in the future when science has developed a means of giving anyone the face and body he dreams of. It may happen tomorrow–but happens now in the Twilight Zone.”
Kinda not too far off, IMO.
There was another episode called “The Trade-Ins,” with a similiar premise, but here, an elderly couple couple wants to get new, younger bodies. I remember a cool closing line from Kahlil Gibran’s “The Prophet” that Serling used.
Cool.
About the newer version when the boy is all grown up, can anyone tell me what happened?
The most recent show is in syndication, so you may me able to catch it.
Living Doll
“My name is Talky Tina … and you’d better be nice to me.” /chills
Yikes! You couldn’t even kill yourself to get away from the little SOB!
