Some interesting airplane stuff

Gulfstream GV in the pavement (some question validity of pic)

C-130 in the pavement (this is real)

C-130 landing on an aircraft carrier

Well, in the C-130 photo it was obvious that the weight of the airplane buckled/broke the pavement. Such possibilities are why the Airport and Facilities Directory lists weight limits for runways and taxiways.

As for the Gulfstream… jet exhaust is VERY hot and capable of softening or melting asphalt, which may be what happened there, if they were situated for a time in such a way that a patch of pavement was heated, then they rolled over it. Or it’s possible it’s another case of pavement breaking, but in the normal course of events Gulfstreams usually aren’t that heavy/pavement usually isn’t that weak.

All WAGs, of course.

My favorite airplane video: Tex Johnson doing a barrel roll in a Boeing 707.

Technically, not such a difficult feat, but considering the circumstances in which he did it, a ballsy effort if there ever was one.
