Holy crap! This is half a mile from my home, and the chiropractor mentioned is my chiropractor! I walk by that building every day on my way to work. I’m glad I’m off today!
My husband and I have a police scanner. It’s kind of a hobby with him (yes, considering our circle of friends it’s always fun to hear what they’re up to - it’s like a perpetual Christmas Newsletter) and one night, we’re sitting in the living room, and hear about a domestic involving - yes - my Eye Doctor. He was hitting his wife and kid with a fireplace poker. There was apparently a whole lot more going on that didn’t go out over the airwaves, and seeing as how I’ve heard his wife in his office, I can kinda see it. They’ve been on a few times since then, but nothing really serious - just the teenage kid going ballistic.
No, I don’t go to him anymore. But it isn’t because of this incident - it’s cause I don’t I have insurance anymore. He was a DAMN good eye doctor. And cheap too!!!
I hope he didn’t poker eyes out!
Wow—it was on all three of the major network’s 5:00 o’clock news shows. It was the first story on all three right after MJ’s will. There were 16 people holed up for an hour in my chiropractor’s office until police got them out a back window of the building.
Wow. It’s amazing how things can touch our lives personally. It’s like a seven degrees of Kevin Bacon kind of thing.
I just went by there about ten minutes ago on my way back from the supermarket. There’s still SVPD vans and CBS and NBC trucks outside, and of course the entire area including the sidewalk is cordoned off. The windows of the dental office have heavy translucent plastic draped over them, and there are bright halogen lights on inside the building. It’s really creepy to just stand across the street and try to absorb the enormity of the fact that four people were gunned down in a building that I’ve been in dozens of times.
