Someone feel sorry for me, please :(

The tooth that’s been bugging me for weeks finally got yanked out of my skull about four hours ago…and the lidocaine’s wearing off.

I just sucked down some more penicillin and my first dose of generic Darvocet but I think it’s going to take a while to kick in.

Help me :frowning:

Done and done.

Try gin. Lots of it. Follow that with some whisky, and then maybe a few shots of vodka to dull the pain.

(And, of course, you’ve got my sympathy.)

And ice. Ice in the whisky and ice on the pain.

My sympathies.

Ooooooooh…Darvocet and gin and whiskey AND the beer with which I downed the Darvocet? My tooth socket won’t hurt anymore, but who’s going to hold my hair back while I’m puking into the toilet? :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks, guys

Tried some ice cream earlier but half my face was numb…didn’t work out so well. Right now I’m STARVING but I’m afraid to try real food…suggestions from the peanut gallery?

Rachel, honey…

You know you have my sympathy, and my love. But…please stay off the alcohol while you are taking pain meds…I know that the previous posters are only trying to help, but it just isn’t a good idea to mix alcohol and pain meds. And since I love you dearly, I don’t want you to do anything that might be detrimental to your health and well-being. Much as it sounds delightful to dull the pain with a double dose of depressants, you might find that it won’t have been worth it when you wake up. Trust me.

Sleep is the best medicine, and you should be able to get plenty of that while taking Darvocet. Ice on your face should help with the swelling, and the love I am sending will hopefully help with the rest.

Oh, and take your antibiotic as close to on time as you can, even if you have to put your night time dose by the bed with a glass of water and set your alarm. It is important to keep the level of antibiotics up in your system when you are dealing with dental infection.

Soft foods: soup, cottage cheese, spaghetti…whatever you like that doesn’t take much chewing. Email me if you want more suggestions.

[sub]I know, I know…you just can’t take the ScottiMom out of the Cheri. So sue me.[/sub]

Much Love,

Cheri

One more thing…if you still smoke, try not to do it anymore than you absolutely HAVE to. It disturbs and can destroy the clot in the socket and can lead to dry socket, which is no fun.

I have no advice, but you do have my sympathy.

Oops. Indeed, I omitted the wink-wink in my message; alcohol and medication is a Very Bad Thing. My apologies.

Although dry sockets aren’t all THAT bad. C’mon - when my wisdom teeth were removed, I had three dry sockets, and I wasn’t allowed to take more medication (at first) because of concern of addiction. It was quite a night, begging for death, whimpering into my bed, wondering how such a cruel god could punish someone as innocent and fresh-faced as me.

Soup, but don’t slurp it out of the spoon. Mashed potatoes, a bit at a time. Or you can do it the hardcore route - get hit by a car, have your jaw wired shut, and get a tube sticking out of your stomach where they pour the food in. That’s the Real Way to eat.

You have my deepest sympathy, chique. That’s the tooth, the whole tooth, and nothing but the tooth.

Hi Chique

I feel for you. Hope you have a lot of downtime and you like liquor. I had wisdom teeth taken out, and the percocet ran out before the aching stopped. Please take the darvocet instructions seriously regarding driving and operating heavy equipment. I didn’t have an accident, but I noticed that percocet seriously impaired my work skills. Hope you feel better soon.

I love you, ScottieMom

If you boil the hell out of the macaroni part, mac and cheese goes down pretty damn easy. I had soup late last night…unfortunately it was something and barley; those little barley things just LOVED the hole in my socket. Oh, and I’ve been inhaling as gently as possible

lno? Thanks SO much for giving me something to look forward to. I really appreciate it :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks much, blu and MisterEcks

Chrome Spot - no KIDDING! Darvocet rocks, but I only worked half a day today - could not concentrate on what I was doing

It doesn’t hurt nearly as much as it did before I got it yanked. Mostly it’s driving me nuts…I’m trying to keep my tongue from exploring but it’s not working so well. Oh, well. At least it’s not sending shooting spikes of pain down my jaw anymore

Thanks, guys
