My sister in law’s dog scared the mailman cause he jumped up on the fence and the mailman allegedly jumped ontop of his mail truck and hurt his back. Despite the dog being behind the fence, he won $61,000 lawsuit against her.
So I can only imagine how expensive it could be if your dog bit someone in your truck, especially if it was a little kid that got the wrong truck.
The schools in the district (Shasta) had reportedly been experiencing leaks and other maintenance problems from the skylights, and someone decided that tarring them over was a good solution.
IMO, If someone is breaking the law, they do not get covered unless it is a obvious, deliberate booby trap.
Under 7 should be accompanied by an adult. = Parents fault.
Pets should be locked in. But that brings up when they are in distress in the vehicle…?? Obvious biting breed which is snarling & lunging at the rescue person, nice lady who breaks the window and gets bit?? She/He gets a reward for stupid?
The stupid person in this story, obviously, is the person who left the dog in the vehicle in the first place. Stupid (a) because they are being thoughtlessly cruel to the dog, and (b) because they are creating a circumstance in which it is entirely foreseeable that somebody attempting to alleviate the dog’s suffering could get injured.
There’s no evidence in the OP’s story that the dog is suffering. But I was replying to GusNSpot, who was hypothesising a dog that was suffering, and a bystander attempting to relieve its suffering.
Why exactly is the dog suffering? Because she enjoys riding in the vehicle? Or because by riding in the vehicle she gets to enjoy spending more time with me? Please, enlighten me as to how you reached that brilliant conclusion.
Look, this is not rocket science. Try to concentrate:
GusNSpot postulates a dog in distress in a vehicle. I understand him, in the context of this thread, to refer to a parked, unattended vehicle. He further postulates a bystander who intervenes to try to relieve the dog’s distress, and is attacked and injured by the dog. He calls the bystander “stupid”.
In response I suggest that, if there’s a dog in distress in a vehicle, the stupid person is the person who put the dog in the distressing situation.
I didn’t conclude that the dog is in distress; I merely accepted the postulate of the discussion, which is that the dog is in distress.
It doesn’t matter why the dog is in distress. Maybe it’s a hot day and the vehicle is unventilated? Mabye the dog is overheated? Maybe the dog was left tethered and has become tangled in its lead? Maybe something else? I don’t see that the precise nature of the distress is relevant to the question that GusNSpot raises.
People are idiots. And they will sue for anything. And they will win.
2 years ago, my dog was inside my house. Front glass storm door closed and locked. A neighbor was walking their dog across my lawn, clearly trespassing without my permission. (I live on a corner lot and they were taking a shortcut across my lawn and across my driveway to reach their house without walking around on the street). My dog barked - once - while still inside the house at the front door. My dog, being large, has quite the loud bark. Trespassing neighbor apparently is startled by the bark, lunges to pick up their smallish dog, and somehow manages to inure a tendon in their wrist while picking up their dog. One loud bark, my dog never left my house, never even tried to leave my house.
Neighbor is a firefighter and now cannot work for a number of months. Trespassing neighbor sues me for - get this - $237,000. Apparently he claims he has permanent injuries and his career advancement is in jeopardy. My homeowners insurance goes to court and loses. Trespassing neighbor wins the lawsuit and my insurance company pays. All for one bark of a dog while he was trespassing on my property.
Sorry, the page hadn’t refreshed yet so didn’t see your response to someone else who questioned this. I thought you were suggesting the dog was suffering merely from being in a vehicle.
See !!! Dogs are intelligent and people are stupid. Give the guy in the yard about a 1/4 million? Bawahahaha, that is the definition of stupid.
