We don’t know what the police know. I don’t understand why we all assume there isn’t a cold case that someone would be interested in. Maybe someone from Chicago vanished, and no one knew to look in Las Vegas. It’s possible someone would get the report and wonder if it’s connected to something.
It’s not very likely, but not reporting it is a guarantee that nothing will happen. Unless you seriously believe you’ll be dragged into an investigation, I don’t see much downside to reporting it. (And if the consensus is that it will be ignored, then you should be safe…)
This was kind of my thinking, the card had been out for a few years before I found it and it ended up in my camping gear and misplaced for a while when I got back, when it did show up I procrastinated and then misplaced it again. Ijust didn’t seem like a normal place to find an empty wallet with only a work badge in it.
I can’t link from my phone, but there are a few websites you can check out. One is “Black and Missing”, and another is “The Charley Project”.
I did have a quick look for nerdy black dudes, but a) figured that was silly as what looks nerdy to you may not look nerdy to me, and b) it got depressing reading about all the lost people…knowing that some of them probably are buried in the wilderness never to be found - it must suck for their loved ones to never know for sure.
