Call me callous.
Yeah, stupid 20-year old boys deserve to die from drinking and driving.
Merry Christmas to ya, Reeder.
Better they die than they kill your mother on the road.
Better that no one dies.
A Joyous Hannukah to you both.
Eh, had he died, no big loss.
Hey, have a heart. Our President was once busted for DWI.
Wait a minute…
OK, you’re callous!
Then came forth Reeder and proclaiming himself free from sin, did cast a stone. The multitude gathered there witnessing this thing cried out with a loud voice saying, “Fuck him. He is an asshat who hateth others because a stick is in his ass.” The people did then roll their eyes in disapproval.
Apologies-I thought we were still in the Pit, My error. Sentiment unchanged, just the wrong forum for that expression. Delete comment as needed, Mods.
I see the actions of a quick-witted worker and a situation that may lead an alcoholic to that ‘moment of clarity’, where he realizes just how out of control he is and that he needs help. His life may have just turned around.
Good stuff, all around!
What spooje said. Beautifully said, spooje.
I feel great anger about drunk driving in general; however, this drunk driver got a second chance for whatever reason, which is a wonderful thing. Let’s hope that he learns something from it. Kudos to the young man who rescued him as well. What a great fellow.
The operative word being “may.” Sure, if he turns his life around and never drinks and drives again, great. But I’d rather have him dead than the possibility of him killing another.
And his wife actually killed someone driving, though sans alcohol IIRC.
What a wonderful Christmas sentiment.
I’d be thankful were I the life potentially to be saved. Couldn’t ask for a better gift.
Wanna borrow my gun??
Where are you going with this? No one was killed. No one was even injured. The driver is gonna do time. And you’re talking like you wanna *off * the guy so he can’t drive drunk again.
So, uh, ‘the gods’ work in fast food drive-thru windows now?
I’ll have Immortality, Enlightenment, and a large coke please.
“WANTETH THOU FRIES WITH THAT?”
Yes, but ask me again after the Enlightenment. :smack:
I guess he wants instant death penalty for anyone who has driven drunk.
Not that I’m defending drunk driving—oh my gosh no—I don’t even drink myself. But this is a little extreme.
Now you’re putting words into my mouth. What I don’t understand is how you can defend someone who was driving drunk and then ended up in a canal. We should just be thankful that there was a canal there as opposed to say, a person. Odds are he won’t even remember what happened.
As I said before, if he treats this as an enlightening experience, fantastic. But had he died, I wouldn’t shed a tear. Why should I care about someone when they exhibit utter disregard for the lives and safety of other’s?
Yes, that is clearly what I said
