Son of the SDMB Musicals Group

As twickster said, I music direct. This fall I’m music directing at two high schools and playing in the pit for a community theater production.

I try to not get them confused, but I definitely rely on my stage managers to help me remember things on occasion.

I’d like to offer 1776 to Sampiro first, as I’m certain he’d do a better job, but if he passes I’ll take it!

I PMed him, in case he’s not watching the thread too carefully. Any others you might be interested in, if you don’t take 1776?

Sampiro tells me via PM that he’s in for 1776, making the list look like this:

Chicago 10/1
Meet Me in St. Louis 10/15 OP: lissener
Moulin Rouge! 11/1
New York, New York 11/15
Pennies from Heaven 12/1 OP: lissener
Seven Brides for Seven Brothers 12/15
Stormy Weather 1/1
1776 1/15 OP: Sampiro

Anyone else want to take some of the onus off me by signing up for an OP or two?

What are you looking for in an OP?

I’ll take Moulin Rouge if it’s unclaimed. If it is, no problem.

A paragraph or two with a few things you noticed/liked/disliked/thought were interesting. A traditional review or critical analysis isn’t necessary – and, on the weeks where no one volunteers and I end up doing it, will be nowhere in evidence. Basically it’s just starting the thread and linking to it from this thread.

SampiroMoulin Rouge! c’est votre.

I just ordered my copy of Chicago so I should have it in time to give it a refresher viewing before October 1. If nobody else is interested in doing the OP for that I’d be willing to give it a shot. And since I ordered the deluxe edition which includes a bunch of extras, I could even include some info on those if anyone’s interested.

That would be great, LurkMeister. It’s yours – thanks!

I’ll do an OP. Give me NY/NY or Seven Brides, whichever you don’t want twickter.

rats. I was going to take Chicago, but I was waiting to hear was twickster was looking for.

anyrose, if for some reason my copy doesn’t show up in time (I just ordered it yesterday and opted for the free shipping which they said takes five to ten business days) I’ll let you know and you can take it.

Regardless of the order your posts come in, you two, I look forward to reading them!

Oops.

Was looking forward to settling in and watching Chicago tonight in preparation for next week – huh. Could have sworn I owned a copy.

Oh well.

So I watched Kiss Me Kate instead.

My copy of Chicago arrived a few days ago. I haven’t watched it yet, because I have another project I need to finish and I didn’t want to get sidetracked. But I’m looking forward to watching it Monday or Tuesday.

I watched it last night, and I’ve been sitting in my office all morning singing Cell Block Tango.

“He had it coming…”

I’m sure your coworkers find that very, um, …

I’ve expecting mine from Netflix today – plan to watch this afternoon, if I’d stop browsing the Dope and get a little work done.

It’s October 1st – are you ready, LurkMeister, or should we let anyrose step in?

I just finished typing up a quick draft, which I’ll be tweaking and posting in a few minutes. Things got busier than I thought they’d be the last few days, and I didn’t get a chance to watch it again until this afternoon.

Isn’t so-called real life annoying when it does that?

Great, I’m looking forward to reading the thread here.
