Song ID: Funky 70s Song

There’s this song that I’ve been hearing on the radio many times for many years of which I don’t know who did it. I used to think it was by the Doobie Brothers, but probably that’s a misconception because the song I’m looking for is so similar to Listen To The Music. It has a very similar funky beat and rhythm guitar, but is more percussive and less melodic, rougher and grittier. The vocals are rather shouted than sung (in a good way), and the chorus merely is a three-note shout. The song also has similarities to X’s True Love Part 2 and Led Zep’s Trampled Underfoot, especially rhythmically. From the sound I would guess it’s from sometime between 1975-80.

Can someone help me out with this one?

I’ll bet it is the Doobie Brothers: “Long Train Running.”.

You nailed it in the first reply. As I said in the OP, I thought it was the Doobies, but the similarity to “Listen To The Music” confused me. Thanks.

This is awesome; I’ve known the song for decades, but NEVER KNEW IT’S NAME.

>.<

Thanks for helping TWO folks

Three. I didn’t even know the correct title myself; I’ve always assumed that song was called “Without Love.”

Same!
That would make too much sense, though; I mean, come on.
DOOBIE Brothers? We aren’t talking much by way of logical thinking, here. :stuck_out_tongue:
