Song identification help

I remember a song in the late 80’s or early 90’s called “An Ignorant Man”, which was a parody of Billy Joel’s “Innocent Man”

This was a great parody, and was at a level of Weird Al Yankovic good.

But I cannot find it on YouTube, and I cannot locate the Lyrics anywhere.

Can anyone help? I might have the title wrong, which may be one of the reasons I cannot find it.

A sample of the lyrics… The song went something like this.

*Go to movies with my radio on, and I wear the tallest hat I can find.
Sit in the middle so I can get up for the mens room 8 or 9 times
*
And,

*I’ve no intention of repaying a loan,
The one opinion I respect is my own.
*
He talks about putting his mom in a home, and parking in the handicapped zone. Driving in the passing lane with his turn signal on.

I remember more bits of the song, but I’m not even sure what I’ve written so far is correct, so I’ll hold off on putting any more.

Anyone recognize this and can help?
Thanks

Found this.

Can’t help you . . . but for a long time I thought Billy Joel was singing “I am an elephant man.”

Bob Rivers.

Ddamn but the internet (and its denizens) are freaking awesome!

Good job, GuanoLad! You too, Infovore (even tho your link wasn’t much liked by my Mac)!

GuanoLad

Thank you! I have been searching for this song forever!

I don’t know what you put in your google to find it, but I am grateful for your superior google foo!

I love this song.

“I put my mother in a rest home today,
She wasn’t sick she just got in my way.”

That’s gold, Jerry! Gold!

Oh, and a quick search on Bob Rivers on you tube did NOT turn this song up, but it did turn up my favorite Christmas song parody… He also did “Walking 'round in Women’s Underwear”.

Bob Rivers is a genius, i wonder why he never made it as big as Weird Al?

Thanks, glad I could help.

I am a reasonably good Googler but I admit this one wasn’t too big of a challenge. I put in a few variations of the same thing, but the one that worked was: “an ignorant man” “billy joel” in quotes, which led me here, and his accompanying link led me to his website here. Huzzah.

Yeah, a good rule of thumb is that if it’s not Weird Al, it’s Bob Rivers. Of course, 90% of parody songs you find through p2p are labeled as being by Dr. Demento, but what’re ya gonna do?

>snif< :stuck_out_tongue:

Sorry, Infovore.

I couldn’t get your link to work, so i have no odea what you found.

I appreciate the effort, though!

Ah, okay.

I found the same song, though my version was interspersed with DJ commentary. I didn’t get the Bob Rivers part. So GuanoLad’s was better.

But mine was first!
