song lyric question

From that apex of hiphop known as “Rapper’s Delight” by the Sugarhill Gang, we find this wonderful verse:

Hear me talkin’ ‘bout checkbooks, credit cards
Mo’ money than a sucker could ever spend;
But I wouldn’t give a sucker or a bum from the rucker
Not a dime til I made it again.

What exactly is “the rucker”? I’m well-versed in slang and ebonics, but this one is beyond me. But then again I was only a year old when the song was released in 1979. Is it some old-school word, or perhaps the “Rucker” is actually a geographic location (the Sugarhill Gang hails from the Bronx)?

I had the privilege of chilling backstage with SHG and Melle Mel (and joining them onstage for their “Rapper’s Delight” finale) when they came to my campus, but didn’t think to ask them personally.

There is a Holcombe Rucker Park (refered to as just Rucker Park) in Harlem where the best street basketball players in NYC play. Many future NBA stars have began their carrers here. This may be what the Sugarhill song is refering to, but I dont’ know for sure.

That must be it; thanks, Blunt!
