I have recently gotten into this series. I’m only halfway through the 2nd book.
They are fascinating and well written. Sometimes it’s hard to keep track of all the characters though.
Does the author keep up the quality through books 2 and 3?
When is 4 expected to come out?
In answer to your questions: yes, and soon. Book 4 keeps getting pushed back; current best guess is April.
It gets easier. Hint: don’t get attached to anyone.
Yeah but pay attention to the past events and charaters, I glossed over them the first time and this makes it really confusing afterward. I’m actually just rereading this series a second time and there is a huge amount of stuff I missed the first time.
Spoiler for Third Book
Was anyone else really surprised that Jorah Mormont betrayed Daenerys in the third book, because I was and rereading the series it’s mentioned practically every second page!
Anyway, I think the best book is the third one, with the worst being the second, so it’s going to get better.

BTW, if you haven’t heard yet, George RR Martin has finally released a sample chapter from book 4 on his website. Good stuff.
I think it’s a fantastic series all the way through, and I’m just grumpy that he’s taken so long to write book 4. There is still no official release date, and I personally would ignore any dates you may see bandied about. Amazon.com, in particular, has been putting up bogus release dates and taking preorders for well over a year now.
Yup, this is a great series and one of my favorites. I can’t wait for the 4th book. Probably going to be one of the few I actually buy in hardcover instead of waiting for the paperback.
GREAT SERIES ! I read the 2nd book a year and a half ago… started reading the 3rd book recently and I remembered the characters more easily.
Every major character is COOL COOL COOL ! Just love that Onion Knight… and those Frogeaters.
I cannot recommend these books enough… adult fantasy.
