Song Titles that don't Appear in the Lyrics

“Summer, Highland Falls” by Billy Joel

“For Emily, Wherever I May Find Her” by Simon & Garfunkel

Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls (I’d give up forever to touch you…)
Good Riddance by Green Day (Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road…)

“Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen

“Sympathy for the Devil” - Rolling Stones

Uh, isn’t that song entitled “Time of Your Life”?

It’s entitled Time of your life (good riddance)

Or maybe it’s the other way around.

It is the other way around. That is to say, you’re right. It’s “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life.)”

Goodbye
First Episode At Hienton
All the Nasties
Border Song
Zorba The Greek
Michelle’s Song
Texan Love Song
Peter’s Song

…and a whole bunch more, really.

Elton John and Bernie Taupin

As well as the theme to the 1960’s Batman series.

Huh, I always heard it as “Take a load off, Annie”, but googling shows you to be correct. Learned my something new for the day.

“Enter Sandman” by Metallica (“Exit light, enter night, take my hand…”)

“Nutshell” by Alice in Chains (“We chase misprinted lies…”) and “Right Turn” by Alice Mudgarden (“I’m bout as low as I can get…”)

Along with “Jungle Boogie”.

Well since I’m old, all these are from the 1960’s:

"The Rain the Park and Other Things" by the Cowsills (Most people think of this as “I Love the Flower Girl”)

"Opus 17" by the 4 Seasons (the one that goes “I’ll be strong I’ll try to carry on … and don’t you worry 'bout me”

"Lover’s Concerto" by the Toys (what everybody seems to think is “How Gentle Is The Rain”)

Annie’s Song by John Denver

The Ballad of Sir Frankie Crisp by George Harrison (aka “Let it Roll”, which does appear in the song- easily one of my top-ten favorite songs, incidentally)

A Day in the Life- John Lennon (well, The Beatles, but it was a Lennon song)

Off the top of my head, a trio from David Bowie:
[ul]
[li]Space Oddity.[/li][li]Ziggy Stardust ((Ziggy is in the lyrics, but not Stardust).[/li][li]Cracked Actor.[/li][/ul]

Not true - the last line is “The dead heart lives here” - but great song, none the less. “Do do do do dooo do do …”

Lesee - there’s “An elderly lady behind the counter…” by Pearl Jam (“I seem to recognize your face…”)

and

Psychonaut (“Pray Now…”) , Love Under Will (“Between the cracks and hollows…”) and For Her Light (“you can’t wake up…”)
by Fields of the Nephilim

“Scenes from an Italian Restaurant” by Billy Joel.

“Randy Scouse Git”, sometimes listed as “Alternate Title (Randy Scouse Git)”, by the Monkees. There can’t be many other songs that have two titles that aren’t in the lyrics.

A good handful of Gorillaz songs are like this - Re-Hash, Clint Eastwood, Dirty Harry, 19/2000, etc.

I see New Order has already been mentioned. Carry on.
