Songs about food or cooking

I searched the thread for the album title and didn’t get any hits, that is why I posted. It never crossed my mind that someone would hack it to pieces…

Half the online lyrics say “mustard”, half say “Muenster”. I’ve always heard the former, and I just listed to the album version online and I cannot hear the ‘n’ in Muenster anywhere. But in this live version he clearly says “Muenster”. Perhaps it’s one of his songs that have evolved over time?

ETA - I withdraw my objection. The official Margaritaville lyrics say Muenster - https://www.margaritaville.com/album-details?albumId=2137&queryString=cheeseburger#lyrics-7279

Can’t have a cheeseburger without cheese.

One Meatball.

“You gets no bread with one meatball!”

Shortenin’ Bread, by unknown
Hold Tight (Want some seafood, mama), by Sidney Bechet

Being pure of mind, I naturally don’t think Kitchen Man and Hot Nuts could possibly be about anything but food.

To say nothing of Please Warm My Wiener

The Tool song Die Eier Von Satan, which sounds like it should be a Nazi rally speech or something, is actually just a recipe for sugar cookies.

“Banana Split for my Baby”, by Louis Prima

Bread and Butter, The Newbeats

Frim Fram Sauce, Diana Krall

Banana Boat Song, Belafonte

Come On A My House, Eartha Kitt

Chicken Cordon Blues by Steve Goodman.

NRBQ - “RC Cola and a Moon Pie”

Take a Tater and Wait by Little Jimmy Dickens.

Billie Holiday: Gimme A Pigfoot And A Bottle Of Beer.

Dizzy Gillespie: Salt Peanuts.

Todd Snider-Beer Run
And of course the classic 99 Bottles Of Beer On The Wall.

Annette Hanshaw:Cooking Breakfast For the One I Love.

ALL pop songs are about food. You think that song is about young love? The songwriter was daydreaming about hot pastrami, mashed rutabaga, and black raspberry ice cream while he was writing it.

Hands down, the greatest food song is Bobby (“Route 66”) Troup’s “I’m Such a Hungry Man” (1956), which will give you a craving for roast turkey, chop suey, shish kebab, and steamed clams in a bucket all at the same time.

You should click on the link as much for the blonde as for the song. You could grate Parmesan on those cheekbones.

“Strawberry Jam” by Michelle Shocked

“Come On 'a My House” by Rosemary Clooney

There’s a Japanese girl band called Cibo Mato that sings mostly songs about food. Like Weird Al, they started by taking existing songs and changing the sexual references to food-based ones, and then branched out with original compositions. Eventually they went into a different direction entirely, but “Know Your Chicken” is worth tracking down.

“Eat Steak” by Reverend Horton Heat

Cab Calloway - Everybody Eats When They Come to my House

Awesome song. 8)
