No Language in Our Lungs by XTC
Modest Mouse has a bunch, Lives is one of the best.
Hope there’s someone who will care for me- Antony and the Johnsons
“I’ll never get out of this world alive” - hank williams
“Time”, and pretty much the whole album Dark Side of the Moon.
Ah, I see CJepson beat me to “Turn Around”…
“Mother Earth” - Memphis Slim
Seems like we haven’t mentioned much blues yet… how about “Goin’ Down Slow”.
I’m kind of avoiding recommending songs that just include people dying, because there are so many of them – murder ballads (“Tom Dooley”, “Cruel Sister”), border tragedies (“Seven Spanish Angels”, “Pancho & Lefty”), teen death songs (“Patches”, “Teen Angel”), protest songs (“The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll”), etc. etc.
Also lots of songs about condemned criminals waiting to die… these probably are of more interest… how about Spooky Tooth’s “Hangman Hang My Shell on a Tree”. (And I seem to vaguely remember some obscure ditty called something like “Bavarian Fantasy”… :D)
Old and Wise - Alan Parsons
A Tout le Monde (Set Me Free) - Megadeth
there’s also an earlier version also by Megadeth just called A Tout le Monde, but while it’s not bad, the 2nd version w/ a female singer taking part of the song, it sooooo much better.
