Songs at the ballpark

I think you mean, Denver’s “Thank God I’m a Country Boy”, which the Orioles used to play during the 7th inning stretch.

Is this thread more about the music you often hear at the ballgame, or general songs about the game? Y.M.C.A is appropriate to the first category, and may fit well with the theme of the play.

I’d recommend It’s a Beautiful Day for a Ballgame by the Harry Simeone Songsters in either category, though it may seem a little smaltzy today.

As I said in the OP, there are a great many songs with key baseball words or phrases that are often played by the home team: “Walk Like A Man” by the Four Seasons when a base is awarded on 4 pitched balls, or “It Takes Two” during a mound conference, or “Three Blind Mice” when the umpires confer.

I’m just trying to capture that ballpark flavor, though. :slight_smile:

I have to vote for the RBI Baseball theme.

I’ve seen Walk of Life by Dire Straits used for baseball ads many times. It’s pretty upbeat and has an organ bit at the beginning. I always think of baseball when I hear it.

The “Walk of Life” video is all sports footage, with an emphasis on baseball, for what it’s worth (link).

I was at the ballpark this last Sunday and heard a very funny song usage: After the umpteenth visit to the mound by various people to counsel the visiting club’s struggling pitcher, the PA blared “Getting to Know You” from The King and I. Heh heh.
