If you were a Major League Baseball player, what song would you want to play when you came to bat? (Or, alternatively, came in as the closing pitcher?)
For me, I’d go with “Hells Bells” by AC/DC or perhaps “Axel F” by Harold Faltermeyer. Those were the two themes I used in my e-wrestling days.
I actually do have a “walk up music”!! I do public speaking events, and when there is large enough crowd for it to be appropriate (usually anything above about 100 attendees), we use walk up music for different speakers.
Like Lisiate suggested, Kashmir by Led Zeppelin is what I use 90% of the time.
If I want to shake things up, and/or it’s a group that is a little younger skewed, I use Take California by The Propellerheads. I try to time it where I get on stage and cue the sound guy to take it down at about the 1:10 mark.
One of my co-workers uses Nothin But A Good Time by Poison, which is fine in the US. But he used it at an event we did in London, and not a single person in the audience knew what it was. It was hilarious.
That’s usually how it works, for an entire season, or at least for quite some time within a season. Frequent changes present problems for the stadium’s PA staff. But of course, a baseball player can request a change.
That’ll was the first thing that popped into my head but I had just read the lyrics in another thread 5 min ago. Then I thought about Wipeout but I could only use that if I was really good. I think I’d have to steal my song concept from Charlie Blackman who uses Jessie’s Girl but has it cut so that the crowd sings end of the chorus.
I think I’d go with Blister in the Sun by the Violent Femmes.
