Songs featuring a named couple

Desmond Dekker and the Aces:

Shirt them a-tear up, trousers is gone
I don’t want to end up like Bonnie and Clyde
Po-o-o-o-or me, Israelites

Jimmy Buffett’s “They Don’t Dance Like Carmen No More”.

IIIrd Tyme Out (bluegrass) - “John and Mary”

On and Onby Stephen Bishop. Lonesome Sue, she’s in love with old Sam…

Ahab the Arab by Ray Stevens. Ahab and Fatima.

“Adam and Eve
Sitting on a rock.
Adam said ‘Eve
Let me wind your clock.’”

Smiley Lewis, “I Can’t Help It.”

 How you or some cover singer managed to turn Polly Peachum into Lotte Lenya, the wife of Kurt Weill who originally composed the song “Mack the Knife”, is a mystery to me.

That’s in Bobby Darin’s version, but I’m not sure if he was the first to do it.

The Road Goes On Forever by Robert Earl Keene – Sonny and Sherry
"Sonny’s playin’ 8-ball at the joint where Sherry works … "

Amos Moses by Jerry Reed – Doc Milsap and Hanna
“About forty-five minutes southeast of Thibodeaux, Lousisiana
Lived a man called Doc Milsap and his pretty wife Hanna”

There’s also the guitar picker by the name of Randy Boone, who gives Della a fire in her eye.

The ending is somewhat ambiguous, but based on the change in the lyrics (“Della and her lover” vs. “Della and the Dealer”), I’ve always interpreted it as Boone killing the Dealer and leaving with Della. Plus the dog and the cat, of course.
