Songs for Artillery?

For the latest in my series of Ranchoth’s Hideous Playlists™, I was wondering…by any chance, would anyone have any suggestions for music for artillery?

That is, with artillery-themed (or merely applicable) lyrics, some historical associations with artillery, or even just music that would go well with sending iron downrange.

Besides the obvious answer of “ANYTHING, JUST PLAY IT LOUD, OKAY?”, so far, I’ve got:

Gustav Gun—Trenchrot
The Caissons Go Rolling Along
Boum—Charles Trenet

And, of course…

1812 Overture—Tchaikovsky

So…anyone else?

…I can’t heeeeear you!

AC/DC - For Those About To Rock (We Salute You)

Green Day, 21 Guns.

Pretty much this. If you want music where cannon fire is not only included, but is included so well and with such perfect timing that it gives you chills, FTATR(WSY) is it.

“Screw-Guns”, from Barrack-Room Ballads, by Rudyard Kipling.

Spoken version, recited by David Hart:

Musical version, sung by Ged Fox:

Several of the Ballads, including “Screw-Gun”, sung by Peter Dawson:

“Barrett’s Privateers” by Stan Rogers is mostly about seafaring, but one of the verses does mention that the ship is armed with “cracked four-pounders”

Well, we used to parody Bob Hope’s theme song “Thanks For The Memories” with “Tanks and Artillery”.

“Bullets in the air,
shrapnel everywhere. . .”

You get the idea.

A bit stodgy compared to what you guys have, but The Voice of the Guns, sampled in Lawrence of Arabia.

I thought I was on to one with the Russian “Katyusha Song,” until I read that it was the song that inspired the name of the artillery piece, not the other way around.

Live And Let Die.

Pachelbel’s Cannon in D Major.

Metallica, Battery.

Iron Maiden’s *The Trooper *is about being on the wrong side of artillery, does that count ?

Soleil Royal, by the pirate metal band Running Wild, is mostly about wooden ships and their iron men, but there’s a good deal of cannoning going - but then, that’s true of pretty much 90% of their repertoire. They’ve got a gimmick, they stick to it, by gum ! The band frequently uses musical cannon, both on album and on-stage.

They played “Boum” sang by Trenet in the France episode of “The World at War.” Funny.

Don’t forget Big Gun. Although it’s probably not about a fire arm.

AC/DC - Thunderstruck

That would be a bad thing. 4-pounders are on the bottom of the naval combat scale, utterly ineffective against anything but the smallest craft, and if they’re cracked, they can’t even be used anyway due to risk of explosion. They’re pop guns mounted only for show.

Surprised nobody suggested it already:

Wellington’s Victory

Especially from about 3:50 in.

For songs about war and anything related to war, always remember Bolt Thrower:

When Cannons Fade
The Killchain
Remembrance

Salvo
Powder Burns
Behind Enemy Lines
Suspect Hostile
7th Offensive
Valour
