songs for the months of the year

and i’m wondering, can we do all twelve?

easily, surely, but let’s try anyway:

I have…

November Rain by Guns n Roses (awful song though. any better november songs?)
December by Weezer
bands

Last Days of April

February Stars, by Foo Fighters
Do you remember (the 21st of September) - Earth Wind and Fire

That’s about it.

September by Earth, Wind & Fire
April in Paris by Vernon Duke & E.Y. Harburg (most people are familiar with Count Basie’s performance)
& another November by Duncan Sheik

“January” by a 1970s Scottish band named Pilot. (And I have NO idea why I remember that!

“January Man” by the group Lindisfarne (from North East of England)

Padstow Mayday Song - done by lots of folk groups 'cos it is a very old song

“See You In September” - The Tokens ???
“April Love” - Pat Boone
For All Around -

“Season Of The Witch” - Donovan (among others)
“All Summer Long” - The Beach Boys
“Calendar Girl” - Neil Sedaka
“Summertime Blues” - Eddie Cochran, Blue Cheer, The Who

December by Collective Soul
March of the Pigs by Nine Inch Nails, but I don’t think that counts.
August and Everything After by Blinker the Star
Type O Negative has an album called October Rust, but not a song
In September by Hayden
February Stars by Foo Fighters

and I know there’s a movie, but isn’t there a song as well called Born on the Fourth of July?

Not widely-known though it should be is Dave Brubeck’s version of a song his brother wrote called “Theme for June”.

It’s from the Live from the Blue Note CD and it features some of the finest solo piano you’ll ever hear. This song alone is reason enough to get the CD. Buy it (or acquire it by some other means) NOW!

September would be better represented by “September Gurls” by Big Star.

We could have also used “Pieces of April” by 3 Dog Night or “April Come She Willd” by Simon & Garfunkel.

We need May and July.

OK.

May - Kayak
July morning - Uriah Heep
There is also:
September song - Bryan Ferry
October - U2

November spawned a monster - Morrissey
December 1963 - Four Seasons

Wake Up April by the Promise Ring.

its funny how that album actually has a lot of wordplay on it, I had to choose between that and Costellos new one (which i am listening to right now) and actually got some wordplay along with it even though i didnt choose elvis initially.

“Wake Up April, its been one cruel year”…i saw it coming a mile away but it still works (same thing on elvis’s new album, i saw wordplay amile away but it still works.)

I got you all covered.

Dream Theater - A Change of Seasons

There, all done.

September Morn - Neil Diamond

Ludovic, how is the new Promise Ring? i like the group, but i’ve read bad reviews of the album. still, i like stop playing guitar, so maybe i’ll like the rest?

May 16, by Lagwagon.

How about Bruce Springsteen’s “4th of July, Asbury Park (Sandy)”

Or Simon & Garfunkel’s “April, Come She Will”?

Sometimes it Snows in April–Prince
June Bug–B-52s
