I can’t hear the song Brazil without thinking about the movie Brazil. It made the recent Visa commercial that used it seem even more surreal and sinister.

Whenever I hear Ace of Spades by Helmet I think of that convenience store shootout in Grosse Point Blank

Recently I watched Zodiac again and realised that Donovan’s Hurdy Gurdy Man will forever now be a dark and threatening piece of music, unlike it’s previous cheerful persona.
I haven’t seen Zodiac but, for me, Donovan’s “Hurdy Gurdy Man” always did seem to have an at least slightly sinister edge to it.
Anyway, since we’re talking about the use of Donovan songs in movies, I’ll always associate “Atlantis” with the scene where Billy Bats gets whacked in Goodfellas (warning: language and violence NSFW). “Season of the Witch” was also used quite nicely at the end of To Die For.

I don’t care what you classify it as, to me it’ll always be Music To Get Exorcised By.

Oh hell yes! I heard Tubular Bells at high noon while driving in my car and it scared the shit out of me.
The Superhero would like me to add that he can’t hear more than two notes of “I’ve got a brand new pair of roller skates” by Melanie Safka without thinking of Heather Graham nekkid.
(Boogie Nights)
He used to crack up every time the commercial for the shoe store came on that used the same music a year or so ago.

I can’t hear Tom Petty’s “American Girl” without thinking of Silence of the Lambs, even though it was used in quite a brief scene with no huge dramatic impact.
Me too. I guess that scene had more “dramatic impact” than we realized, eh?
“In the Hall of the Mountain King” will forever be creepy to me because of the whistling in M.

This example is from a TV show instead of a movie, but I can’t listen to “The Final Countdown” without thinking of Gob Bluth dancing around on stage with a knife in his teeth as he is performing a magic trick. Oops, I mean an illusion. Tricks are something a whore does for money.

I’m not the only one!?
I can’t hear “Stuck in the Middle With You” without reliving the ear-cutting scene in “Reservoir Dogs”.
The Hallelujah Chorus has been ruined in a big way for me by Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Funny. I had exactly the converse experience.
Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin” will forever be associated in my mind with the Theron/Ricci love scene from Monster.
Not necessarily a bad thing, mind you. ![]()

And? What happened after that? Well? WELL?

“My Hero” by Foo Fighters will always bring to my mind slow-motion high school football, a la Varsity Blues
