Songs that are too short

Let My Love Open the Door, by By Pete Townsend
It’s waaaay too short. I have to replay it like 5 times in a row untill I’m satisfied.

by By Pete Townsend??? What the hell? Or “oops I should have previewed reply first…” :smack:

What, no ‘Song 2’ by Blur?
Ok, what about ‘Fell In Love With A Girl’ by White Stripes, then?

I agree - and will add Sick of Myself from 100% Fun. Way too short.

I got a name - Jim Croce 3:09

His masterpiece Time in a bottle clocks in at only 2:24.

This might be just me, but I thought the charm of that song was in its shortness. Any longer and it would have been plain annoying.

“Thick as a Brick” by Jethro Tull.

Ok, seriously…“Still in the Game” by Steve Winwood, only because I really feel he should have repeated the final chorus. And that would make it longer, right?

Echoes by Pink Floyd. Even though it is almost 25 minutes long, I want it to go on.

Badge by Cream. It just sort of…ends. I keep expecting that incredible guitar break to come around again, but no. And it seems like there should be another verse or two, somehow.

Tori Amos - “Graveyard,” weighing in at 55 seconds. You’d have to play it 46 times to equal the length of the abforementioned “Thick as a Brick.”

To slightly hijack the OP and drag another thread into this…

4’-33" by John Cage is the antithesis of a song that is too short, as it is a song that is exactly as long as it should be.

No more, no less, but just right…

The Zelda Theme Song played by S.O.A.D it only took 54 seconds

Actually, JT is exactly who I thought of when I saw the thread title:

“Wond’ring Aloud”
“Grace”
“Cheap Day Return”
“Cheerio”

…probably a few more in there somewhere…

“Vaseline” by Stone Temple Pilots seemed like it could use a few more verses.

Matthew Sweet is good, isn’t he? I’m glad to see people mention him.

I vote for “Fucking in the Bushes” by Oasis. Its the only song by Oasis th at I like, and its way too short.

The Fire Song by Shellac, as well as the Copper Song, also by Shellac.

Probably the best work they’ve done, in my humble opinion. Each is about a minute.
I agree that a lot of the songs listed gain their power by being short.
Of course, there’s the entire catalogue of Torture Garden, which go anywhere from five to thirty seconds, though I don’t these really count, because it’s a gimmick.

Bobski and Jefe2000 by Galactic are too short. Played live, the songs are mad long. But both of them on the CD are under 1:00 :frowning:

I totally agree… great album and a great idea by Fat Mike… Have you heard the Fat music for Fat people? All over 8 minutes long.

Well, this will say something about both my age and taste in music, but I always thought Hearts Dreamboat Annie was far too short (1:55).

“Maggie Mae” - by the Beatles
