Songs that could be made into movies

You. Just. Beat me. To this. :smack:

Don’t know if it would make a good full-length movie, but I would enjoy seeing Maxwell’s Silver Hammer get the Law and Order treatment.

doink-doink!

The Best Ever Death Metal Band Out Of Denton by The Mountain Goats would be my choice.

Harry The Hairy Ape (Ray Stevens)

Wasn’t “Torn Between Two Lovers” made into a cheezy TV movie back in the 80s?

ETA: Looked it up on IMDB. 1979; Lee Remick and George Peppard. Still cheezy after all these years.

I think “Highwayman”, by Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson and Kris Kristofferson could be an amazing movie.

Hmm. This gives me an idea. How about “Country Death Song” by the Violent Femmes?

If they want a happy ending, it could be the prequel to Alice in Wonderland

Marionette, by Mott the Hoople

Emma, by Hot Chocolate

To make it long and complex enough for a feature film, combine it with “Eleanor Rigby” . . . like she was one of his victims. And a flashback to a young Eleanor, with “She’s Leaving Home.”

I’ve heard that there’s been several screenplays written for this although none have made it off paper. It seems to beg for some sort of screen presence though, doesn’t it?

First of the gang to die by Morrissey. Not really sure why, except that it has a great moody feel to it.

I forgot to list the one I think this of every time I hear it: Five Years - David Bowie

I’m surprsied no-one has said Journey yet.

There’s at least a crap porno in that.

Think you’d really need to do the whole Ziggy Stardust album (and possibly large amounts of intoxicants), but I’d watch the result.

Space Oddity might work as a stand alone song/movie.

Procol Harum.

I suggest Tweeter and the Monkeyman by the Traveling Wilbury’s.

Yes, except that Five Years, the first track on that album, stands alone in not being part of the rock’n’roll life stories that make up the rest of the album.

It’s a simple story of what happens among ordinary people when it is discovered that the earth will die in 5 years’ time, of unspecified causes. My movie idea based on it is that astronomers see an asteroid or similar that will hit earth in 5 years’ time, and this triggers an international race to build a spaceship so that at least some people will be able to get off the earth and start a colony elsewhere, the moon most likely, so they can later on come back and re-colonise earth once the destruction has finished.

Of course with the magic of movies the ship is ready barely in time, there’s lot’s of drama based around who would go, etc … then with days to go the astronomers reveal that the whole thing was a co-ordinated hoax amongst themselves, in order to kick-start humanity into building a space ship and planning an extra-terrestrial colony, and also to drive them closer together by presenting an external threat.

I can see that, but most of the action take’s place in Major Tom’s head, so perhaps you could say that the last reel of 2001 was that film already?

“Westfall” by Okkervil River.

And oh man would I love to see this!!

song by Procul Harum- movie by David Lynch

That’s actually not bad at all.
