I immediately thought of “Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts”, too, but decided there wasn’t much point: the whole story is really right there in the song, and there’s not much to add.
On the other hand, “Tangled Up in Blue” has just enough fragments to make something interesting, particularly as the last verse, with it’s reflections on a moment in time of “revolution in the air”, gets into more than just a boy-meets-girl-in-a-stripjoint story.
Big Tobacco (aka Joe Pernice): “Bum Leg”. Down-on-his luck guy looking for the emerald he hid somewhere a long time ago, so he can beat the rap he’s got for beating up another down-and-outer and go to Paradise–or at least Florida.
Off the top of my head, I think both “Wonderboy” and “The Best Song in the World” by Tenacious D could be made into movies. Come on JB and KG! The Pick of Destiny was a disappointment, give it another go!
this one would be a movie very loosely based on the briefest and sketchiest of lyrics–just a character-driven wisp of a plot, but fantastic nonetheless: amovie of John Cale’s (.Fear is a Man’s Best Friend).
