Songs That Epitomize Their Bands

I’m using Napster to sample music from bands that I’ve heard others rave about. Rather than look up an artist and pick a song at random, I’ve decided to ask the Dopers for help.

If I were to name an artist, could you name one or two songs that sort-of epitomize them? For example, if you asked about Styx, I’d recommend Blue Collar Man and The Grand Illusion. If you asked about Kansas, I’d recommend Carry on Wayward Son and probably Dust in The Wind.

Here are the artists I’d like to sample for now:

Rush
Reverend Horton Heat
Phish
Veruca Salt (as I side note, the former lead singer of Veruca Salt now has a solo act going on, and a pretty good song on the radio (“How do I feel so light… This is all I wanna feel tonight”). What’s her name?)

Thanks

For Rush, try the live version of ‘Red Barchetta’ from ‘Exit, Stage left’
For the Reverend Horton Heat try ‘Psycobilly Freakout’ from 'Smoke 'em if you got ‘em’ or ‘Big D Boogie Woogie’ from ‘Spend a night in the box’.

The former Veruca Salt singer/guitarist with the solo career is Nina Gordon. Louise Post is still dragging the Veruca Salt name around with new players. I think you can begin and end your interest in Veruca Salt with “Seether.”

Don’t know much about Phish, but they have a song on their new album called “Back on the Train” which is a charming little boogie.

Reverend Horton Heat: “Bales of Cocaine”

Phish: “Fee”
