I recently discovered this guy. He just blows me away.
So we did. Thanks for the link …I gotta check all them out now too!
I probably haven’t a song blow me away more than five times in my life - I tend to appreciate music on repeated listenings. So the last example would probably be OutKast’s “Hey Ya!” That’s a hell of a song, brilliantly made, and insanely catchy.
This song blew me away when I first heard the album version. I listened to it over and over.
Madeleine Peyroux’s Dance Me To The End Of Love.
Just curious about the Zevon song I posted…what did ya’ll think of it? Haven’t seen any comments about it.
Couple more that made me lose my socks;
A dozen years back, the only time I’d ever dropped acid (chased by some really nice tequila), the lights were down and we were digging on how good the music sounded. Then the host put on Waiting in Vain from Annie Lennox’s Medusa, a cover of the old Marley song.
Socks, shoes… they all went in different directions.
Corinne Bailey Rae - Put Your Records On
I downloaded CSS’s Music is My Hot, Hot Sex the moment after I heard it on the Apple commercial. It’s just a fun, unique song.
Jeez…don’t know how I did this, but I youtubed Annie and thought the song was Whiter Shade of Pale .Check that out! Liked Waiting in Vain also.
Similar videos…love the outfits.
That was my second favorite on the album, the Procul Harem cover. Magnificent, eh?
Yup,never thought a bear costume could be so sexy.
I loved it. I can’t say it knocked my socks off, but it’s very very good.
I think I may have mentioned this in the previous thread, but the one I really remember is the first time I heard Tom Traubert’s Blues by Tom Waits. Truly sublime. (I prefer the album version to this live performance, though).
Thank you for posting this, I’d been trying to find out who this is and what the song was called!
Love it, very fun. Checking them out on MySpace right now, and “Alala” is very good as well.
Kim Richey’s song A Place Called Home was used over the ending montage of the episode “Shells” during the fifth season of Angel. It struck me then, and is still my favorite song of hers.
Then there is the awesome Joe Cocker/John Belushi duet.
Dear God by XTC did, does, and likely will continue to blow me away…
ShadowFacts that clip of Tom Waits has become one of my favorite sights on YouTube. I’ve been listening to Waits my whole life and sometimes I forget how young he was when I first heard him.
And speaking of young, let me nominate Madame George by Van Morrison. The whole song just moves me along in like a sigh of wind and it astonishes me that it’s the work of such a young man.
That link above is just a rip of the song from the album. Here’s more about “Madame George” at Wiki - link
I came across this guy about a year ago have not been the same since.
