Songs that make you play air bass

I’ll throw out the obvious “My Generation” by The Who. Another favorite is Stevie Wonder’s I Wish.

What are yours?

Stones, Live With Me. (This video doesn’t have the studio version that starts off with the bass riff, but was so good I had to share anyway)

The theme to the 80’s TV show Night Court.

I have never played air bass.

I shall change this sad state of ways immediately.

The entirety of Paul Simon’s Call Me Al, most especially the six seconds from 3:43 - 3:49. Also, Led Zeppelin’s Ramble On, mostly for the chorus but also for the great bridge. And of course TANK! by the Seatbelts, aka the opening credits from Cowboy Bebop.

All three of these are also ideal for air bongos, and two of them have parts written for air woodwinds.

"Jump Into The Fire" off of Nilsson Schmilsson: Herbie Flowers kicks butt.

"Sleepless" by King Crimson: Tony Levin on 4-string for a change.

Let’s not forget Barny Miller!

Oh, then there’s N.I.B. by Sabbath.

I play air bass to Message In A Bottle.

For me it’s slap bass. Mostly Level 42. Mark King is the master of slap!

Something About You, Good Man In A Storm, and Nik Kershaw’s song featuring Mr. King on bass, “Easy.”

“The real me”, the Who.

Super Bon Bon - Soul Coughing

Led Zeppelin’s “How Many More Times”

King Crimson’s “A Sailor’s Tale”

Beatles’ “I Want You (She’s So Heavy)”

Yes’ “The Fish”

“Rock On” by David Essex.

“Stir It Up” by Bob Marley and the Wailers.

This is the one I came in to claim.

I’ll add Led Zeppelin’s “Good Times Bad Times.”

Fleetwood Mac

The Chain

Damn There are some good base licks in that song.

Jeffrey Osborne - Stay With Me Tonight

Oh, and the aforementioned Barney Miller Theme.

Second Ramble On
Joy Division: Shadow Play, Twenty Four Hours, Atmosphere, Disorder, Insight

Damn, missed edit window
Goth Music is great for nice bass-driven songs. Personal faves:
Fields of the Nephilim: Last Exit For The Lost, Love Under Will, Laura II - I always play air bass rather than air guitar to these, even though the guitar is nice too. May be just the speakers/mix in goth clubs.

20 posts to name Money I’m getting old. Then again, anything by Morphine , so maybe not too old
