Duran Duran
Rio
Reflex
Union of the Snake
Last Chance on the Stairway
…and others
Blondie - Atomic
Thorazine Shuffle by Gov’t Mule.
Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth) by Cliff Burton of Metallica. It’s the rockingist bass solo of all time.
Ok, confession time. I air play the bass on Bela Lugosi is Dead from Bauhaus (all 3 notes of it), but only because it is the only piece I can actually play for real.
Oh yeah, everything Primus ever wrote too.
Flea IS the man which is why I cam here to add Higher Ground by Red Hot Chilli Peppers (I know it’s a Stevie Wonder cover, but still)

A bunch of older blues songs, including Born Under a Bad Sign and Oh, Pretty Woman.
“Once In a Lifetime” - Talking Heads
“The Bed’s Too Big Without You” - The Police
Primus - Tommy the Cat…better live though
The Beatles - The Ballad of John and Yoko
Golden Earring Radar Love, Twilight Zone
The Offspring The first 45 seconds or so of Bad Habit, from the beginning until the drums kick in.
The Motels [DEL]Peter Gunn[/DEL] Mission of Mercy
When I first saw this thread, I thought “what an odd concept.”
Later, I found myself playing air bass to Tomorrow Never Knows, by the Beatles.
Taking up the air bass is not something to be entered into lightly. It requires years of practice and dedication. Unfortunately, even an accomplished air bassist will be relegated to relative obscurity as the air guitarists get all the air groupies.
For me, its Rush. Limelight is a good one. And as mentioned, Jump into the Fire.
And the air bassist always has to stand right next to the air drummer.
“Drive my Car”-The Beatles
“Perfect Kiss” by New Order
It’s an acoustic bass, but my vote goes to Eberhard Weber’s T on a White Horse
Beautiful!
I’m always surprised that it takes so long for someone to mention Primus in these kinds of threads. Les Claypool is to bass as Jimi Hendrix is to guitar.
