Great pick. When I was younger that song was a banger. Not that it’s any less of one now, but it’s less fun to sing along with.
The first song that springs to mind is this lovely from Karl Wallinger (World Party):

I just had a conversation with a dear friend about Arlo and his father Woody Guthrie, and thought about what was my favorite Woody song. And came up with “Deportee (Plane Wreck At Los Gatos)”, which I learned from the Byrds version I still like best. No song from 1948 could be more relevant to our times than this.
