I watched “School Daze” for the first time in grad school and was gut-punched when they start singing “Be Alone Tonight”
not for what is it but because some friends had done it as a skit in college and one of them was later killed in a car accident senior year.
Oh, and Alexander O’Neal’s **If You Were Here Tonight **which her friends played each weekend on their college radio show after she died.
Wheels Of Confusion by Black Sabbath . Especially the last verse:
“The world will still be turning when you’re gone.”
The first song that I ever heard from him, “Superman (It’s Not Easy)” has that effect on me. The first time I heard it, it was played with scenes from 9/11 as a video tribute.
The Stones’ “Child of the Moon” unexpectedly brought a tear to my eye, just now, as I was listening in the car.
