Songs that you like because your life seems so much better in comparison

Maybe the person has an attitude that’s completely wrong. Or the life that’s described in the song just plain sucks.

Here’s my list:

Creep by Radiohead

Doll Parts by Hole Explains a lot about Courtney Love

What It’s Like by Everlast. Three realistic and depressing vignettes

Novocaine for the Soul by Eels…

Any others?

I forgot to include Mr. Brightside by the Killers

“Ain’t No Sunshine When She’s Gone.” I mean, seriously. The guy is miserable whenever she’s gone; he doesn’t know where she went to, why she left, how long she’ll be away, or if she’s ever coming back. I listen to it and think, “Oh, for god’s sake, either sleep with her sister or kill yourself.”

Bohemian Rhapsody.

"Fast Car by Tracy Chapman

Suzanne Vega’s “Luka”-I remember hearing that song in the late 80s and feeling extremely sorry for Luka even though I was barely a tween myself.

All 1980s hip-hop music applies here for me.

For me, it would be:

“Seasons in the Sun,” “Rocky,” “Honey,” and “The Autumn of My Life.”

Yer blues, Beatles

Longview, Green Day (although my life doesn’t seem that much better)

One, Metallica (here it sure does)

Evig Pint, Kaizers Orchestra
