Luckenbach, Texas by Waylon Jenning
Century City – Tom Petty
“Count” for what? Is this some sort of competition? Or is someone publishing these in a coffeetable book?
Sufjan Stevens did whole albums devoted to a single state. He claimed he was going to work his way through the midwest, then broaden out until he’d done an album’s worth for each of the 50 states and DC. Well, he got all the way from Michigan to Illinois, then went home.
His “Sufjan Stevens Invites You To: Come On Feel the Illinoise” album only has one other City-Name-Only song: “Jacksonville”, but is full of city-centric tributes like “Concerning the UFO Sighting near Highland, Illinois” and “Decatur, or, Round of Applause for Your Stepmother!”
My favorite name? “The Black Hawk War, or, How to Demolish an Entire Civilization and Still Feel Good About Yourself in the Morning, or, We Apologize for the Inconvenience but You’re Going to Have to Leave Now, or, I Have Fought the Big Knives and Will Continue to Fight Them Until They Are Off Our Lands!”
ETA: Speaking of “Chicago”, there’s also the CSN song (or maybe just Graham Nash, not sure if there ever was a studio version) that was a rallying cry for the Chicago protests.

(Several different songs for each title.)
I specifically said in the OP “Not songs with a city name in the title.” The title has to be a city name, nothing else.
Why are you posting if you are going to ignore what the OP requested? It just makes it look like you didn’t read the OP.
Or Baltimore by Tori Amos.
Woodstock by Joni Mitchell.
Champaign, Illinois written by Carl Perkins and Dylan. My old home town.
Randy Newman has another song called Birmingham
Miami - Will Smith

I did read the OP, and I posted two songs that were just names of cities.
I merely asked "Why only the city name?"
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania by Guy Mitchell
The songs Peter Morris said didn’t count were posted by nearwildheaven, but your asking about why they didn’t count made it seem like you didn’t read the OP, since it’s obvious from that.
Because that’s what the OP asked for. Doesn’t seem that hard to understand to me. I don’t know why you would ask that if you read the OP.
