Honestly seemed like something some hackers were doing for the Lulz.
I look forward to more information on how they identified NK as the source. *Wired *has a pretty good article arguing that the evidence for NK being behind the attack is flimsy – at least the evidence that’s publicly available. So far, there are only two main pieces of evidence we know about that point to NK, and both of those are pretty circumstantial: the fact that some of the malware was apparently written on a computer using the Korean language, and the fact that some of the malware also turned up in earlier attacks attributed (inconclusively) to NK.
The Wired article offers a number of alternative scenarios, including that multiple independent attackers breached Sony and are taking advantage of the chaos to press their advantage. So, who knows? In another thread, I said I was kind of leaning toward NK being the source of the attacks, but I’m still hanging on to my weasel words for now.
