President Obama says that Sony made a mistake by pulling the move “The Interview” from theaters.
Sony says they had no choice, that the “several theater owners refused to show it”. Why doesn’t Sony say which owners? If they would say who, then public pressure could help them change their minds.
I realize that Sony has decided to stream the movie. That doesn’t change the fact that Sony is using theater owners as a scapegoat and by not releasing the names, it is possible that it is just a lie from Sony. First rule of Corporate Management: Never tell the truth if you don’t have to.
Thanks. I hadn’t seen or heard that.
These are the guys that are giving in to the Terrorists.
Idiots.
The theater owners aren’t idiots. They may have been afraid that the threats against showings of The Interview would discourage people from attending other movies.
I know it keeps getting mentioned that it could be made available through PPV or download, but has there been any progress towards that? Also, would any Network have the balls to show it?
**pipe-dream **
Wouldn’t it be nice if, like presidential addresses or other national disaster event coverages, it could be broadcast on ALL the networks on the same night, at the exact same time, pre-empting regular broadcast schedules?
Sony’s going to release it on crackle.
All that’s going to prove is how little a fan base Crackle has.
The theatre companies didn’t have much choice. After that nutty kid shot up the theatre showing Batman and the theatre got sued because “they should have known something like this might happen” the theatre owners decided not to risk it.
If after these threats were made and something did happen to occur they would face huge lawsuits.
