soul meets soul on lovers' lips - a kissable MMP

What squee-dorable kitties!!

Five loads of laundry - DONE!

Veggie beef soup - Mostly done - it’s simmering

Sausage for lasagne - Done cooking, currently cooling before I chop it up.

**FCD ** - drugged and snoring. I’m guessing he really shouldn’t have gone all day without pain control.

I had forgotten that we get rewards points from our VISA and VISA check card, so I went “shopping” today. I’m getting a pizza stone set (I gave my old one to my daughter) and a carpet steam cleaner and some kind of grinder for FCD. I also ordered myself another pair of Rockports (I love the ones I got a few weeks ago) and I ordered some shirts for FCD. This staying at home is expensive!!!

Just got a phone call from my MIL - they’re safely home in FL. That’s a relief. I worry about them driving that long way - they’re 77 & 76 and they really shouldn’t be spending all day on the interstate. I wouldn’t be surprised if they never came here again.

mmmmmmmmm - the house smells yummy - I do make good soup, although it would be better if I’d had some cabbage. Oh well.

Hey, BBBobbio, I have a NASA sticker just like yours! 'Cept mine isn’t on my car.

A belated welcome home, MamaTigs! Sorry I forgot to say that earlier; glad that you had such a good time too - hah, you don’t want to get back into your routine, so it must have been great!

FCM, I know what you mean about “Yes Dear,” I can’t stand that show either!! And the curious thing is that it’s a Greg Garcia show - the same guy who does “My Name is Earl,” which I absolutely adore!! I too will be front and center for the 1 hour season premier tonight.

Question to any medical-oriented folks: is there any difference between name-brand meds and generics?! Just the other day I heard once again that there’s a difference, this time from someone whose cousin is a pharmacist - according to the pharmacist, the generic is the same, but at a lowered strength (huh? Yeah, I didn’t understand that either!). My HMO will cover generics at normal co-pay, but if you get name-brand, you pay extra for it. So is there really any difference? I am totally curious!

I’m baking my first batch of baguettes ever right now. (Well…I’m waiting for them to rise before I bake them, but close enough.)

Woo!

Nava I happened into a Spanish Cookin’ store in Seattle today while wandering around and they had all these huuuuuuge flat pans about four feet across. I think they said they were for pazella (? I tried to remember the word but fear I failed…) or something. The little picture looked like couscous. But what in the world do Spanish people need π * 4’[sup]2[/sup] * 1" worth of couscous stuff for?

Drive by while pausing from clean up and packing.

Gives SO the “how you doin?” look.

tarra, generics are very specifically regulated and defined. They should have the same effect, using the same active ingredients, as brand names. A number of popular drugs are actually made by the same manufacturers, sometimes on the same production lines. The only occasional issues that I’m aware of are with certain drugs where dosage is tricky (Coumadin is the example I know), where it’s not a great idea to switch from brand to generic (or generic to brand, for that matter). As long as your doctor starts you on a generic, you shouldn’t have issues. Here’s a page from the FDA Web site that has links to various publications about generic drugs. All the pharmacists I know (and I know a bunch of them) always get generics if they’re available.

Back to clean up.

Not sure if I’ll be back before Sunday… If not - have a wonderful weekend!!!

Oooh, kitties! They’re so cuuuute!

I know I keep talking about snow. And it hasn’t really happened, except for that one night last week when it happened up a few hundred feet from me and I forgot to get pictures. (I did get some cute pictures of pups today and will get them online once I get my camera back, since it’s living at the shop until I close up tomorrow to get pictures of pups.) But I just looked, and there’s a real chance of some actual snow down here (down here is at 5800 feet, mind you) overnight Friday and Saturday morning. Possibly up to an inch. That’s not much for here, of course, but daaaaaaayum! SNOW! I will, of course, go out and play in it if we get it.

Mama Tiger, I really need that hat and gloves you keep saying you will make for me. I need them, like, yesterday!

By definition and law, a generic and a name brand are identical chemically for a given dosage. The only way they can vary is by manufacturing process used, so long as the end product is the same.

Forgot to comment on **Bobbio’s ** pic: ummm…who was being transported in your vehicle, sir?

It ought to be fun to see the gate guards when I go to work tomorrow…

The soup was yummy, and there’s tons left for future meals. Yay.

I also made up the sauce for the lasagne that I’ll finish tomorrow. But I’m done for the night.

It’s ice cream time!

No time to read-home just in time for The War. Hello to all, sorry’s, too bad’s and that’s greats all around…

WHA?

The War is not on! The nerve–as if I care about some Presidential debate thingy.

 I was all psyched for the Battle of the Bulge and everytihing.

Now I have to wait until Sunday.

Poop.
Off to read and go to bed early. <sigh>

just who have you got stashed in the trunk, there, Bobbio? :dubious:

since Achod is all kissed out by now, I’ll just nibble on his ear a bit

A chorus mate made me a batch of (snerk-proof) evil nuts for my birthday. She’d made up little snack bags full to sell at the boutique two weeks ago. They’re extremely addictive. She “sautées” the nuts in simple syrup until the water evaporates and the sugar crystalizes on the walnuts/almonds/pecans/cashews (whichever is your favorite). We opened the boutique 5pm Friday evening. 100 little bags were sold out by 8pm. Don’t worry - I am awaiting the recipe via email and will post it as soon as it arrives

I have to do some quick PR stuff then off to sleep
Nitey nite all

eta: and good morning to Nava, Dotty, and Achod

Yeah, I was actually kind of happy about that, I was starting to get WW2 overload! I needed a break plus tonight has Survivor, the Office, AND It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia! Very tiring.

Hi, gardentraveler! I’m doing okay, but very tired today. We had a very important presentation for the executives at work today and I had to present three of the slides to 43 people. Thankfully, it went quickly. Unfortunately, the meeting STARTED at 5 pm. BOOOOOO.

Last week I was in Celebration, FL on vacation and spent some time at Disney World (as posted in some thread about Disney World in this very forum last week). Good times.

::stomping in in a big black cloud of smoke:: ::hands on hips::

Didn’t you just tell me that all you needed was me!!! Was it all just words!!! You (expletives deleted)!!
A couple days later, and you’re flirting with every Tom, Dick, Harry and Jane!!
Grrrr. You could have at least left the guys for me.

Harumph!!!

::storming off:: ::leaving big black cloud behind:: ::taking Mork’s room key. . . hmm, room 304. . .who did I see coming out of there lately?::

(I might, just might, forgive you if you serenade me with an early morning singing song. . . and LAY OFF THE GUYS!!!)

You and I must be talking about different other thingys because umm. . . no. The other thingy is very important.

What religion is this? Sign me up! Is the holy book the Kama Sutra?

That article was hilarious, but my favorite part was:

Sounds so yummy! :stuck_out_tongue:

How come swampy gets to say stuff like this without anyone else making it sound nasty? swampy and Mork get away with so much stuff, and no one ever tells them to get a room. Of course, Mork was hanging on to the room key all this time, so maybe that has something to do with it.
**
Haze**, are those boots like the ones Julia Roberts wore in Pretty Woman?

Jahdra, I like those boots too. I’ve never worn boots in my life, but those are nice.

Hey, wait a minute! What happened to the no flirting, no smooching rule?!! That was just for me, wasn’t it? ::feeling dejected:: :frowning:
That video was awesome.

Good night and good morning everyone!

Morning All!

FYI, Survivor:China is on tonight here (not last night :frowning: ), so I am still waiting for my next fix of Jaaaaaames (who knew gravediggers could be so sexy)!

Wise Rat, I figure Nava will be along soon enough, but this is paella - basically a one-pot Spanish rice dish (traditionally, I think, with chicken, sausage and seafood). And the bigger the pot, the more people you can serve!!! If the Spaniards are anything like the Arabs, you would need that size pot to serve a family of 8.

Nothing more to add at this stage. HRH was waking me up every 20 minutes from 4am through until 6am this morning (I think the top incisors are pushing down now), so I need to go do some more caffeinating while she’s preoccupied with Blue’s Clues!

ETA: Morning Roo! ::winks shyly:: (I’m loosening up as time goes by  )

Natto looks nasty. I was talking about something that’s more a paste that you mix in with your rice, or make into a stew. Ah well. I’ll cook some for you and you’ll love it. Trust me.

My books are nowhere near the boots in Pretty Woman. Now those are CFM boots. Mine stop below the knee and the heels are not stiletto. The boots are just close-fitting and a bit high-heeled, I guess. Okay, maybe I’ll post a pic. Along with my cat pics. If I ever get off my lazy ass tomorrow.

My friend has just royally pissed me off because she’s insinuated that the only reason I don’t want to get married right now is because I “have it easy” since I “don’t really work.” Er, what? Earning a salary and supporting myself is not work? The pampered brat still lives at home and all she ever does is complain about her job as a (well-paid) accountant. She feels the need for a husband because it would make life easier, supposedly. Heaven help the man she marries.

Oh wow, how did I miss the first part of Roo’s post - is there going to be a fight? :: looks expectant :: I hope there’s mud involved.

ETA: my BOOTS, not my books. :smack: Ah well, it could have been worse.

special one you and yours will remain in my thoughts and prayers.

In no particular order my best healing thoughts going out to FCD, gotti, and anyone else who is under the weather.

Happy Birthday brainpasture!

snowbunny around these parts that early snow on the mountain tops is referred to as Termination Dust. As in the termination of summer. We haven’t had any around the island yet, but I have heard that it’s already on the tops on the mainland mountain ranges. I remember my first year here, I arrived in April, there was a glorious summer, and when the first snow began falling in earnest in late September I was dancing around, much to the old time Alaskans disgust. I now understand why. I hope that you have plenty of snow to fulfill your need to play, and that you don’t get so much that you suffer from cabin fever!

rebo isn’t Gordon Ramsay just the best? I have such a secret crush on him, and I love it when he blows up. It’s always justified, and it’s so gratifying to see someone with such authority and high standards take those who should know better to task for their nonsense. Have you watched last night’s episode of “Nightmares”? It was so good, but what a horrible restaurant…ewww!!!

Oh, herbs, regarding last week’s goat hunt, yes it was for a mountain goat. The skipper’s daughter was drawn for a goat permit, so skiffman was an extra hand on the hunt. She is only 16, and she dropped her goat with one shot, and then they quartered it up and packed it back down the mountain. Skiffman is going out Saturday night for a few days with the skipper on a charter elk hunt. The skipper runs a charter business during the off season and frequently takes my husband along as an extra hand. Skiffman is a good game scout, and he is also very good at getting the meat quartered and down to the beach before any bears show up, plus he gets some cash for his time. He also gets to do some deer hunting while he’s out there, I am ready for some fresh backstrap!

I had to have blood drawn a couple of weeks ago and I am now on two new medications, one for my cholesterol and finally something for my pain…tramadol, yay! I have taken it in the past, but it was just a short term course. Now I have it for chronic pain and I take it as needed. I am also taking soma for my muscle spasms, trazadone for my depression/ocd and xanax for my anxiety. I am having some trouble timing it all so that I am not a walking zombie. I like tramadol, it’s a non-narcotic and it sort of creeps up on my pain and makes it slip away.

Oh hey, y’all remember the former best friend who sent me an email last week out of the blue? Well today she left a message on my myspace page! I really only have a myspace page to interact with my kids and their friends who are my pseudo kids. Anyway the message was as disjointed as the first, and there was a request/demand that I write back. I don’t want to set my myspace to private, as I have been found by a couple of old friends and school mates, but it is just weird that she is contacting me. I’m not looking for advice, just sharing in the weirdness which is my life!

I guess I should get myself heading in the direction of the bed. We are buying a new bed, so I only have a couple more nights on this old mattress, yay! Night everyone, I had a song to share, but it has slipped my mind at the moment. If it comes back I will sing it to y’all later.
