Sound Effect Madness -- the finale!

For Kat’s sake, if for no other reason (it’s a long, slow summer with no Fantasy Teevee, ain’t it, kiddo?), we have arrived at the finale of Sound Effect Madness. Turns out that “ing” is the key element in a great sound effect: Our two finalists are:

Zing vs. Boing

Make some noise for your favorite!

Boing!

I think I missed a few rounds. But my vote for number one goes to:

Boing.

Boing in a landslide!

Zing went the strings of my heart!

Boingy boingy boingy!

And yes, yes,it is. If it weren’t for the Madness threads, I’d go mad.

Number of Oscar-winning Movies with “zing” in the title: ZERO

Number of Oscar-winning Movies with “boing” in the title: ONE

Gotta go with boing!

“Zing” occurs in many legitimate everyday words, such as “fizzing” and “anodizing”. “Boing”, on the other hand, is seen only rarely, usually in dance-related words such as “limboing” and “mamboing”.

On those grounds, if there were any, I cast my vote for “boing”.

Boing

Actually, The Unbearable Lightness of Boing lost to Rain Man.

BOING!

I’d like to add that I have no idea why this Tourney wasn’t more popular. Come on, people!

Thank you! Damn, it was good enough to lure a lurker like you into posting … oh well.

Anyone else want to sound off before I tally the votes?

Boing is so much more fun!

Boing! Boing! Boing! Boing!

Zing vs. Boing

By a vote of 11 to 3, the winner is (drumroll – er, cacaphony of thunks, whizzes, and kachings, pls. ) –

Boing!

Somewhere, the ghost of Don Martin is looking on with approval.
