my vision is 20/100 in the left eye and 20/400 in the right. i’ve been told i have to have at least 20/70 in one eye to get a moped liscense and that i can’t even take one of those little standing up scooters that go 12 mph max on the road without some kind of liscense. they say there’s no such thing as a special liscense for strictly secondary roads or an “emergency liscense” that some guy my mom knows who was also legally blind (20/200 or worse in both eyes) had. so, can anyone find a loophole? also, the longer i stare at something, the better i see it; so do you think they’d let me stare at the vision chart until i could get down from 20/100 to 20/70? do you know of some way i could practice “stretching” my vision? (i’m not just simply nearsighted; i have nystagmus; so those advertisements i hear on the radio that you can supposedly get rid of the need for glasses probably wouldn’t work. damn!)
Have you looked into electric-assisted bicycles like the Giant LaFree? They are usually less strictly regulated than mopeds.
Or you could get a Segway, I suppose…
