South Dakota is on meth, and they want everyone to know

:smack::smack::smack::smack::smack:

Wonder what the rejected campaigns were.

Got meth?
Finger lickin’ good!
Where’s the meth?!
A meth addict is forever.

The jokes practically write themselves!

It’s a message that speaks to voters on both sides of the meth issue.

No need to facepalm. It’s meant to be provocative and get people taking and raise awareness of the problem in SD.

Looks like it’s working.

Followup campaign: Cocaine? Fuck Yeh!

“Don’t Meth With [del]Texath[/del] Uth!”

Exactly, this was pretty brilliant actually.

So, like 30 out of the 45 people in that state have a problem?

Was there anyone denying the problem to begin with? Was there a lack of awareness?

This. And what are the intended goals that increased awareness will help achieve? Even more Draconian penalties for drug use and manufacture?

I guess I don’t see what the state governor’s point is behind this type of publicity campaign.

That’s another fine meth you’ve gotten us into.

Everyone at my work is looking at me funny for laughing out loud.

Actually, if they are all on meth, it’s probably more like 45 out of 30…

I’m guessing the message is “Hey, a lot of people in our state have a meth problem, so it’s a whole state problem. We’re all experiencing it as state residents, whether or not we’re actually abusing meth or not. The solution has got to be that we’re all working towards a solution.”

On a serious note, I’m encouraged by some of the other aspects of the anti-meth effort, as it includes "$1 million for meth treatment services and more than $730,000 for school-based meth prevention programming."1

OTOH (bolding mine):

The “ingestion law” makes ingesting a controlled substance a felony, because I guess we can’t let these people forget that they’re criminals? SMH

My first thought when seeing it?
“I’m on meth, and I seem to be doing alright”

The governor stated that more anti-drug initiatives were on the way: “The first step is to crush opioid pills. Then we are going to lick blotter acid. And there is a plan to pound cheap beer”.
The governor also indicated that if successful, other addictions would be addressed, including using the resources of the state to “fix sports gambling.”

As a former South Dakotan, I’m sort of surprised at the need to raise awareness about meth use in the state. When I lived there, booze was the problem. Something about those long, dark, cold winter nights…

The real scandal is that they paid a Minnesota ad agency close to a half-milion dollars for this dopey campaign. What’s the point exactly? To drive home that it’s not only stereotypical young tweakers in the big cities who are hooked on meth*, but also farmers and ranchers in Mobridge and Kadoka?

*well, relatively big cities anyway.

As a resident of South Dakota, I’d like to point out that I am not currently on meth.

Been thinking a lot about the movie Crazy People today.

Meth. For men who’d like hand jobs from skanky women they hardly know.

Meth. It won’t just get you high, it will fuck you up for life.

Actually, the second one kind of works.
