The point I am trying to make is that in deciding whether a fetus or embryo is a worthwhile human life is usually more a matter of opinion than fact. One’s political motivations are the primary reality here, not the hard science of when a cell magically becomes a citizen with a social security number. If science were to come out with a statement tomorrow that an embryo becomes a human life at exactly 2184 hours 23 minutes after conception, I’d bet that almost everyone would challenge that finding, and further, that the nature of such a challenge would depend on one’s political leanings.

(Nitpicky, maybe) It can’t be just politics. I’m somewhat conservative politically, somewhat religious even, I’ve had two babies of my own…the personhood-at-conception belief still mystifies me. Nine months into the term I’ll gladly concede the point, but early on that’s all it seems to be - a belief.

Sorry, Priceguy, I’ve been running a fever most of the day, and I read your posts as arguing that the zygote/embryo/fetus was analogous to the passenger and should be allowed to “tag along” so to speak.
