South Park: Problem with Transgendered?

Wow. That was incredibly unfunny and sub-juvenile.

That’s what Cards Against Humanity does. This game makes fun of literally EVERYTHING that you can think of, but they decided to draw the line at transgenders when enough of them complained. No deck can be complete without the “passable transsexuals” card!

No shit. The problem is that it seems like Cartman IS a hero to Stone and Parker. So you can direct your retort at them.

“Cartman has escaped karmic justice for way too long, for way too much.”

We’re not watching the same show.

Cartman almost never wins. Never. He got Scott Tenorman, but I believe Tenorman got him back. He’s had the shit beaten out of him. last year the PRINCIPAL broke a sink with Cartman’s head.

Only two episodes ago the kids dragged him to a cabin and KILLED HIM…okay they broke all his social devices. But that was the metaphor.

Doyouevenwatchtheshowbro??

My favourite episode is probably “Tsst”, where Cartman does indeed get put in his place by an adult who is completely unfazed by his shenanigans.

Cartman’s mom ultimately undermines the effort, but it was a fun ride.

Well if no one else will do it then I will.

Stone, Parker, some day when you read this message board and this post specifically then you should know that I am so retorting you. You are so retorted.

They most definitely DO have a “thing” for transgendered. They compared them with people trying to turn themselves into dolphins 11 freaking years ago and they haven’t gotten better since. This is not a recent thing dealing with just Caitlin Jenner.

isn’t cartmans mom transgendered? that’s the last time I watched it was during the "whos cartmans dad " debacle… btw did they ever find his mom ? I know they made some sort of half hearted to be continued …but I never heard anything about it

IIRC:

They retconned it. It turns out that Liane is actually his mom, and not a hermaphrodite (not transgender, she never was claimed as so), and his father was Mr. Tenorman. Which makes Cartman patricidal and even worse… half Ginger.

I used to, then he murdered Tenorman’s parents and tricked him into eating them, and also tried to use (a strangely compliant) US Justice System to make Kyle suck his balls … I could go on for hours. And yeah, he seldom ‘wins’ in that he doesn’t get everything he wants, but he very, VERY rarely gets even a portion of what he deserves.

In fact, if want to start tossing snarky TV Tropes cites around as evidence, guess what else Cartman falls into besides Villain Protagonist? Karma Houdini.

There’s a lot in this thread that could be made into a great episode.
That’s not an attack. I find everyone’s opinion to be interesting.

(Fill in every monstrous thing a TV character has done that viewers forgive because they love redemption arcs)…GoT… Battlestar Galactica…Buffy…

But Cartman can’t make a guy eat his parents and be forgiven???

Also, despite the serialization recently. it is just a TV cartoon show. Badly drawn and the impressions poorly done. Yes there is going to be episode reset.

I see what you’re saying, but the analogy doesn’t quite hold up. “Ugly person with a raspy voice” is a stereotype, but it’s one of those stereotypes that in Jenner’s situation is true… her face looks pretty fake, and she does have a raspy voice. If they put Chris Brown on the show he’d still have to be black, because that’s what he looks like.

They could’ve probably given her a different voice I suppose, given how poorly the “impersonate” other celebrities voices (I personally find it disappointing that they don’t even try to get a decent Obama impression, instead just giving him a normal South Park voice, as even a half-assed one would’ve made his appearances much funnier).

I don’t think the sentiment “cutting off your dick doesn’t make you a woman anymore than slapping a fin on you makes you a dolphin”= “I hate transgendered”

It’s just an off the cuff, insensitive approach. "I’m shocked! Shocked! To see South Park do this "

But again this has been an interesting thread.

What kind of “karmic justice” would you want to see happen to an 8-year-old boy?

I know most of you don’t mean offense, but “transgendered” isn’t really preferred terminology. Transpeople is preferred (also sometimes “transgender” with no “ed” is used, but it’s mostly used in longer phrases like “the transgender community”, often shortened to just “trans” or “trans*”)

I mean, we’re talking about a show that brutally murdered a child every episode for several seasons as a running joke. The child in question people want karmic justice towards got anally probed by aliens in the first episode of the entire show. While saying they’re children is accurate, the sort of consequences and trials that befall them do not need to be (and frequently are not) proportionate to the sorts of things you’d do to any real kid.

I’ve heard “transfolk” before. Is that ok?

Does that have a meaning?

No, I’m sorry, you can’t suddenly pretend this is the real world and it’s therefore bad for something to happen to Cartman because he’s a child.
