Fuck you Trey and Matt. No really, fuck you. I wanted to watch and comment in CS, but I really can’t. Apparently, according to the dumbasses that write the show, I should have an AIDS test and am a “faggot” because babygirl and I cannot have children. I have never seen them directly attack any other group. Most of the shows I have seen, and I will admit I haven’t seen them all, they make fun of prejudice.
I really would like to know how fucking far down they have dipped in the ratings to make it seem like someone with ovarian cancer should be the set up for a joke and the person who married her should be branded as a homosexual (not that there is anything wrong with that.)
I stopped watching when they attacked transsexuals. Neither I nor any of my loved ones (that I am aware of) are transsexual. I therefore claim moral superiority over the OP and Issac Hayes.
And especially Parker and Stone. The ignorant, bigoted, fuckers.
Lord, Isaac Hayes got paid well before he walked out of his contract. Fuck, show the truth about religion, and I could change my faith, but show me where infertility causes AIDS or a change in orientation. It don’t happen. That is what I am getting at. Make fun of the prejudice, but not the victims.
Well, apparently I missed tonight’s repeat broadcast. Now I gotta find the next repeat.
Heck, do a SP search here and see how it’s always so funny & dead-on in its attacks until it gets personal. ESPECIALLY the Mr. Garrison sex-change episode.
The abrupt closing line of the show (well, penultimate line) was not meant as a serious position statement; the creators surely do not endorse it. The very point of it was that it was over the top and ridiculous, an indefensible clinging to a position (“If you can’t have babies, you’re not a woman”) voiced by a moron (Mr. Garrison) which had just been shown to be manifestly wrong (biological women cannot always have babies).
I was very, very turned off by the tone of the South Park episode about Mr. Garrison’s sex-change. However, I think you are taking the absurdity of that one line of tonight’s episode way too seriously.
So like, is that the first episode you’ve ever seen? I mean, that’s the only way that you would think Stone and Parker really meant what they said through Mr. Garrison, who’s probably one of, if not the most fucked up person on the show. The overt racist moron.
The closing line wasn’t about how you’re gay because your wife can’t have children, the closing line was about how Mr. Garrison is so fucking stupid that if your wife can’t have children that makes you gay.
Once again: it’s Mr. Garrison. You can’t take anything he says whatsoever seriously.
I guess I’m naive because I didn’t think the Mr to Mrs Garrison episode was against transsexuals.
Maybe it was wishful thinking, but because they usually show absurdity to make fun of people who take things seriously, I thought they were making fun of people who think stupid things about transsexuals. You know, like “If we let people change sex, next people will want to change their skin color or look like an animal!” and just how absurd that is.
I realize this is the pit so I’ll be flamed, but I honestly never thought they were anti-sex change. Of course Mr/Mrs Garrison was horrible about it (“I can’t wait to have an abortion!”) but that’s Mr/Mrs Garrison, when is he/she not ridiculous and terrible?
One point that particularly bothered me about the sex-change episode, and which made it difficult to believe their message wasn’t at least partly “Transexuals are deranged!”, was that they spliced in real-life footage of sex-change surgery, for no better reason, as far I can tell, than to get an “Oh, eew, how disgusting!” reaction, when, really, the graphicness of sex-change surgery doesn’t say so much about sex changes as it says about surgery.
I felt that way about the Wal-Mart ep. Like, when the Wal-Mart…entity was making people kill themselves, it felt more like, “Look, this is what liberal airheads THINK Wal-Mart does.” And then the real message was more like, if you don’t like it, don’t shop there, but people are too stupid to do that.
I’m not trying to argue, I totally see what you’re saying BUT don’t you think it’s kind of the juvenile “Look balls!” kind of thing? Just their typical gross out? Not gross because it’s a sex change, but gross because it’s surgery and especially on a part of the body men usually really treasure.
Kind of like in the episode when Korn was on and the body was taken from the cemetery and they did the “Here is what the necropheliac would do to the body” and they went into great detail and even made sounds of what it would sound like.
I guess that one of the episodes you missed was Here Comes the Neighborhood, with an eerily similar parting shot (in tone and insult level) by Mr. Garrison.
That episode is one of my favorites, I might add. (A lower-case ‘t’? Time to leave?!)
Odd, I happened to just watch that ep yesterday with the commentary, and Matt and Trey made the comment “Why did we ever think this was funny? It’s just gross.” So if it makes you feel better, even they think that was a mistake.
If you really think that line wasn’t just a complete gag- the only line Mr. Garrison could have come out with to make his point still valid, then you’re taking the show too seriously. If you’re married to a woman who can’t have kids, she’s really a man, and you as a result are a fag? Come on now. This is the same Mr Garrison who once recommended getting some fags and tying them to the back of a truck and having a “good old fashioned fag drag” for chrissakes- do you think the writers really advocate that too?
