Well, that was pretty fucked up.
And speaking of which, so is Mr(s) Garrrison…

Was that the first time they’ve ever shown Kyle’s hair?
They’re going to get really really really really really angry letters from the transgendered, I do believe.
Pretty lame, particularly for a new show after a break. I didn’t find anything very clever and there was too much screen time for Garrison. I only like that character in small doses. Though his slo-mo wail toward Kyle at the end was kinda funny.
[Mr. Garrison] Who wants to pound my vag?[/Mr. Garrison]
I expect it will rile up TGs but I think it was a statement on cosmetic surgery in general, not just gender reassignment. And Mr. Garrison decided that he was happy at the end so it was entirely anti-TG.
Also, it IS South Park. Offending people is what they do.
Shouldn’t that be “wasn’t”?
I’m surprised SP hasn’t really been attacked by the Pro-Choicers.
I can’t remember which episode, but there was a scene previously where they were having school pictures taken and Kyle took off his hat to reveal a big jewish afro
It was the beginning that shocked me! Yikes…
I kind of felt like it was all shock and no funny. I did find some bits far more disgusting than hilarious – the knee/testicle explosion at the end for example. If I wanted entertainment like that I’d just look at the goatsex guy for 20 minutes.
To each his own, but I thought it was hilarious. Almost every second with Kyle’s dad/dolphin on screen made me laugh outloud. Not to mention Kyle being tall and black.
The only thing that was missing from this episode was a shark and a guy on waterskis.
Not so great. And I do hope this doesn’t mean the end of us seeing Mr. Slave! Jesus Christ, I love Mr. Slave! And he was right it was a sucky thing for Garrison to do without telling him.
WTF is a jewish afro?
A Social satire featuring a Transgendered Teacher?
Been there, done that.
To answer that question, we asked a young Ben Stein.
I kept thinking about how familiar the whole Mr./Mrs. Garrison plot felt, after the past few weeks!
Kyle’s hair was previously shown in the episode “How to Eat With Your Butt”. It’s a red afro, which is no more “Jewish” than any other non-black color would be.
Can you tell I just got the Season 5 DVD Set?
Holy crap! That’s Ben Stein? He’s like Mr. Conservative now. I would’ve figured he was never within 10 feet of a pair of sandals.
The episode seemed to me like a pretty blatant slam on sex-change surgery, and I don’t think they were trying to mitigate it at all. I don’t think those guys care too much about offending people. I didn’t find it any more or less funny than usual - seemed about average to me. They had a couple funny things, but as usual, they took one idea and clubbed it over the head for way too long. But that’s pretty much their style.
They also showed that he had big poofy hair in the episode where the crab people tried to take over the world through Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.
I thought the episode was funny as hell. I was really amazed that Kyle’s mom wasn’t a big fat bitch about TG people.
I think it was a pretty even-handed, “Realistic” take - what I got from it was pretty much : Some people feel their bodies don’t match their minds, and that’s okay, and they should be tolerated and respected - however, those people have to realize that all they’re getting when they undergo surgery is essentially a cosmetic change. Gerald will never be a real, biological, fully-functional dolphin, and he needs to realize that.
The South Park lads often take the middle-of-the-road approach to issues.
Mrs. Garrison’s disappointment at being unable to get an abortion really struck me funny; also “Well, yes, if you want to be tall and black, otherwise I wouldn’t recommend it.”
I know what you are implying but literally I think that they care very much. Offending people seems to be their goal.
