The Bin Ladin episode parodied the WWII Warner Bros. toons that you don’t see around any more. Bin Ladin’s expressions and behaviour were straight out of toons like “Bugs Bunny Nips the Nips”, and some of the anti-German ones featuring Bugs or Daffy than haven’t been shown on TV or available commercially for quite a long while. Cartman behaved just like Bugs and Daffy did in similar toons toward a similarly animated wild-eyed Hitler, or an anonymous japanese soldier. It was hilarious because it was so wrong and out of touch with the portrayals we see in the rest of the media, and I can see that if one hadn’t seen the old wartime toons it probably looked pretty weird. With the old WB toon perspective, though, it was a scream.
If the creators want to give the show some kind of higher purpose, that’s okay, but now what I hoped would never happen did - it’s starting to cut into the comedy.
The boys’ ironic response to Kenny’s impending death was like the now-dead show Upright Citizen’s Brigade - they took something that was funny for about a minute, and had it occupy a big chunk of the episode.
South Park- If we have to explain why it’s funny, you aren’t going to get it anyway.
the episode in question is the first one i have missed on the first run, but comedy cental (god love em’!) will rerun it about 100 times before next sunday, so im sure i’ll catch it.
I thought the new episode was funny. Is wasn’t “ha-ha” toilet humor funny, but amusing i can think about it for a while funny. It was good, but the end was the best. Cartmen gets his own shaky’s lol!
